Thanks for the congrats, Lorna. I am sorry if you are discouraged about losing 40 pounds. I wish I could say something to help. What helps me deal with the discouragement when I think the weight loss is not enough, is knowing that I am following the rules and getting the exercise and that my body is just on a different schedule than some others are. We also all start at different weights and heights and have different amounts resected, so our results will all be different. Sue

A Big Congratulations. I have only lost 37 lbs, so your 50 looks great to me. Also I checked out your profile, and wow, you can really see the difference. Continued good luck. Dianne

Thanks for the congrats, Dianne. I am sorry you are discouraged about the 37-pound weight loss. I read your profile and saw that you are a diabetic. I too am a diabetic and was told that some diabetic meds do contribute to weight gain, but some do not (Glucophage does not, I believe). Maybe you could ask your doctor if you could be switched to one that does not? For me, the thing that really helped out of a stall was increasing the time at the gym to 1 hour each day. I also read on the main board that if we make big changes for a short time to our food and exercise that it can jump-start the weight loss again. For example, eat more veggies at each meal or add a few bites of fruit or eat different protein foods than you have been. Also increasing the protein tremendously by adding in protein shakes between meals and getting at least 100 g protein a day and drinking huge amounts of water for a short time could also help. I actually tried all this and increased the exercise, do not know if it was a coincidence that things picked up or if it really was the changes. Good luck to you. Sue

Sue, Thanks for your email. I'm going to try to mix things up. I've been eating the same proteins forever. I'll try more veggies, and fruit. I have started drinking 100 oz of water a day, but still this week, no weight loss. I'll ask my doctor about the glucophage, but I tried it 8 years ago, and had horrible diarrhea from it. I'll try anything again though. I need to up the exercise too. Thanks for the encouragement.. Dianne

Congratulations! You are doing great. I am 2 days ahead of you and have lost 41.5 lbs. I am just happy to be losing. It took my whole life to gain this weight so I figure it can take a while to lose it. I too had a 3 week blip where I didn't lose. I think that happens every now and then. Just stick with the program it will work.

Margo, Thanks for your encouragement. I read your profile and noticed that you recently lost 4-1/2 pounds in one week. That is great and hopefully will continue for you. I also had a stall for awhile and then things started to pick up when I made some changes to my plan. You are right, the program will work (I hope I can remember that when I have my next weight loss stall!). Sue
