Protein bars?

How many of you regularly eat protein bars? My dietician allows the bars now and then with the stipulation of low carbs, low calories, low sugar and high protein. I do drink 1 protein shake a day, but am thinking I could substitute the bars for the shake at breakfast sometimes or even in place of a meal? I recently tried the Power Crunch bars, and they are great! Just wondering if anyone else is eating protein this way regularly. Thanks. Sue

Sue, I eat a protein bar almost every morning for Breakfast. My nutritionist does not have a problem with protein supplements as long as you watch the sugar and carb levels and to use them in place of a meal. She also suggests using the Protein shakes as snacks between meals because they will leave you feeling full. I have not found one brand of bars that I can say I love but I have been tolerating them. I just ordered some Power Crunch samples, and I can't wait until they come. Kim 286/240/150ish

Thanks Kim. I like the idea of having the protein drink between meals because I have a hard time waiting the 5 hours between meals that my surgeon wants me to wait. Sue

Kate, I agree that most protein bars taste like cardboard. So far the Power Crunch bars are the only ones I really like (and I tried the variety pack with about 4 different flavors--all good). Most of the other bars have much more than 7 carbs per bar also. I have been able to eat a full bar if it is at meal time (I wish I got full on 1/2 bar). Thanks for responding. Sue

I, too, love the power crunch bars... and I really like the pria low-carb ones, too... but did purchase a box of optifast ones and they are pretty dang good -- little and only 7 grams, but like I said they are little. I also like the Atkins cafe au lait and really like the fact that there are 20 grams in an 11 oz can.

I hate eating early in the morning but I know I have to so typically I grab a protein bar or shake for breakfast while I am getting DJ ready for school. I also do some kind of protein drink or high protein snack in between lunch and dinner b/c there is like a 5-6 hour spread between meals! PLUS, I exercise in that time and I need the protein boost!
