Question about crystal light???
I have been drinking crystal light as my main water source. When I drink plain water, my stomach actually cramps. My WLS nutritionist told me I could count this as water intake. But today, when grumbling about my slow weight loss and the reasons for it, I was told that the body needs 64 oz of plain water, and crystal light does not cut it. (This was from a doctor friend) What is all of your understandings regarding this?????
Thanks
Dianne
Hi Dianne,
I too have the same problem with water hurting my stomach. I have always been told tha****er is water and that is what our body needs. I am also a slow looser and maybe it's because of the various drinks I use to make up the required liquid intake. Maybe we could try to up the water. Good Luck,
Syndi
Hi Dianne,
I have problems with water too, I drink Fruit2o, and I get bubbly and have to burp alot. My nutritionist told me that I need to have 48-64 oz. of liquid daily. She specified liquid not jus****er. I also drink Minute Maid light and Arizona No Carb Blueberry Grren Tea, they are REALLY good if very cold.
Good luck,
Pat

Dianne,
I actually stumbled on the tea by accident. I stopped at Royal Farms to get a cold water on my way home from Curves and found it. I actually put the bottle in the freezer while I ate dinner and by the time I "could" drink it it was like a slushy, very good. So now evey once in a while I pick one up on my way to work and put it in the freezer at work as a treat in the afternoon. I'll let you know if I find it the grocery stores.
And thanks for the congrats, I feel really great for the 1st time in years!
Have a good one,
Pat

Hi Dianne! I was shocked when I read your post. Since the day that I got home from the hospital I have been drinking Crystal Light and Diet Snapple mainly as my water intake. Once in a great while I can tolerate plain water if I'm really thirsty and only if it's refrigerated.
My doctor told me from the very beginning that I could drink Crystal Light,
and Diet Snapple.
Possibly your doctor friend may not be fully aware of the aftercare of a WLS post op patient. But I'm sure your friend must have meant well.
But I say to keep on doing what you've doing until your doctor tells your otherwise.
Aloha, Pat
I have been told from Day 1 by my Doc that Crystal Lite counts as water.......and that's good..because I have been slugging it down by the gallon everyday...popsicles count too.....it works for me and I'm stayihg with it. My Doc is also very conservative about food...so it's not frivolous on his part. I have never understood why some Docs seem to want to make it harder than it has to be and take away ALL of the colors and flavors in our world.
The heck with THAT!!!

My doc is conservative about food too! I'm doing great with eating things though, tolerating everything I've tried, (except broccoli). It's stopped me from trying lettuce now, although of all things, I'm craving a salad. Who knew!!!!! I'm only going to try the plain water for a few weeks, if it doesn't make a difference, then I'm going back to the crystal light.

p.s. I loved your profile, witty, honest, funny.
Congratulations on your weight loss, and continued good luck!
