Morning everyone, I am going to try not to complain too much, but I have a couple of problems. The first is that I am just 5 weeks post-op and have not been able to start exercising yet. A week and a half ago I fell and twisted my ankle very badly. My doc didn't do X-rays, we decided that I would give it 10 days and if not better then I would. Well, it's only marginally better .....I can hardly walk, so my treadmill if out of the picture. That's were you ladies come in....I need some ideas on what exercises to do. I have a Swiss Ball and a Cardio Fit machine...I know I could use the Swiss Ball....not so sure about the Cardio Fit? The second problem is that I have had numerous episodes of blockage in the last 10 days. I haven't had any problems with swallowing until now. Even my meds are starting to get stuck. It makes me nervous to put anything into my mouth.....Everything was going so well before, why are things getting stuck now? Things that I could eat 2-3 weeks ago are even giving me problems I have a call into my docs office....he was out yesterday when I called. I was thinking that maybe it is scar tissue that has built up? Sorry to come off sounding like such a complainer.....I DO NOT regret having the surgery one bit!!!........I believe it is the best thing I have ever done for me.....and can't wait to get into those sexy clothes God Bless......and looking forward to all of your suggestions. Lanie, you are definitly on the right track.... get with your doc ASAP, sounds like you might have built up some scar tissue. As far as exercise. Do you have a Wal-mart? In the exercise section is some big rubber bands. Pick those up and make sure it has the workout video with it. If it doesn't go to the movie section and pick up a band workout! Bands are easy and work your muscles to smooth, lean, and fit! You can also try doing water arobics if you have a local indoor pool. I did that with a sprained ankle while I was in college. Is your ball one of those big ones? If so you can do a bunch of exercises with that. Just google it, if you do not already have the video. GAIAM also puts out lots of tapes on stretching, yoga and meditation... all of which will give you some exercise and get you more limber even if you skip the weight bearing portions. (Yes, meditation is a workout too.... breathing exercises raises your core body temperature and allows you to concentrate on how deep your breath is. The more you work out your lungs, abs and chest muscles the easier exercise will be when you have doc's clearance! HTH! Hello there Lanie, Speaking as the stricture queen that I am, (I have had to be "unblocked" 3 times 3 weeks in a row) I think you should keep trying to get in touch with your doctor and get checked out for a stricture, and get it fixed as soon as possible. I found out from experience it might take a few times before the problem rights itself. God Bless Kelly

Hi Lanie I am 6 wks and 2 days post op. Right about 5 wks I began to have prolbems eating and drinking and had constant nausea. I thought I had a stricture and kept a close watch on things. I 'd twice last week. But then I called my doc's office and they felt that it was just the normal re-adjusting that we all go thru. Well reading about it and living it was a different story. All I can say it that suddenly on Tuesday at exactly 6 wks post op the problems seemed to stop and I am feeling better now. BUT if you are ing a lot, and you do not think it is because you are not chewing properly, then you need to contact your doctor. It's really hard to know if something is wrong, or if in the course of events we are not eating slow enough, or chewing enough, etc... Those are the learning curves I am having problems with. Jane D.
