Hi everyone... Just wanted to check in and let everyone know that things are going well for me. I am 9 weeks post op today and have lost a total of 41 pounds... It has been slow for the past month but I seem to have fallen into a pattern of a 4 or 5 pound loss every other week and 1 pound on the alternating weeks... its so hard when the scale is hardly moving at all.... but it will keep inching down for all of us if we keep to the rules and keep moving our bodies! Good luck to everyone!!!! Patty Open RNY 1/5/05 318/277/140

Patty, It sounds like you are doing just fine!! Sometimes we will lose at slower paces, I am okay with that because at least the weight is coming off. Just stick to what your doctor says and you will be fine. I had open as well but my surgery was on Jan. 25, 2005. Good luck and keep up the good work!!! Becky P.

Hi Patty congratulations on your weight loss. Its 9 weeks for me also, and ive lost 40 pounds. I was a little discouraged at first because I felt I was losing rather slowly but like u said at least were losing and Im thankful for that. By the summer I think we'll be looking pretty good.

What a RELIEF! I thought I was the only one loosing a measly pound every other week and 4 on the other weeks! MAN, i was really starting to secretly stress! Especially since I lost SOOOOO much inthe first 3 weeks. Perhaps I will develop a pattern like you. THANK YOU for posting! Jamie Thank you for letting me know that I am not alone on this rollercoaster ride... Congrats to you on your 41 lbs gone forever! Thats what keeps me going, I will never again see 300 lbs... or even 280!! And when I'm wishing that it would go faster, I just remember where I started and how thankful I am that I'm able to walk and move better now.... that I am not feeling so bad each and every single day that I have to force myself to go to work and keep functioning.... luckily, that is gone forever too! Good Luck to you! Patty

Heck yeah girl friend! Seven weeks and 41 lbs ago I would have NEVER been able to do water aerobics in the morning, swimming in the afternoon and Tae Kwan Do at night! Let alone all of my other activities! I finally found these great am & pm stretch tapes that I have added to the mix too and I feel so much leaner and limber. So NO more sore muscles, aches and pains and snapping in the joints! I can't wait till hubby comes home from overseas so I "show him" how limber I am.....LOL! wink-wink Boy is he in for a surprise when he gets back! Wow! You get a lot of exercise in each day.... With working 10-12 hours a day, I feel blessed that I get up at 4:30 in the morning and do the treadmill for half an hour lol.... I'm going to work on finding some more time for me too.... but NOT before 4:30 am :D When does hubby come home? He is going to be soooo surprised! Best of luck to you! Patty

Yeah, 4:30 am is entirely too early for me too! LOL! I don't work so I can afford the time to exercise in a variety of ways. What kind of work do you do? What the ladies up at my hospital do is they pack their snacks and unches before they go to work so that they are eaisly eaten while they are working at their desks, or eaten during one of their 15 minute breaks and they spend their lunch hour walking down the 2 flights of stairs to the main level and then walking around the hospital a few times and then walking back up to the floor they work on. Some of the ladies only walk for 30m some walk for the full hour. If you could spare 25 minutes at night I would definitly suggest a stretching regimin that includes static and active stretching. GAIAM has a great yoga series and the am & pm stretch series. They are relativley inexpensive and worth the extra time in the day. I sleep more soundly now that I stretch before I go to bed! HTH!
