Medical Alert Bracelet
Hi Friends,
I purcahsed a blank medical alert bracelet at Walmart for $5.93. DH took to engravers and had GASTRIC BYPASS, NO NG TUBE, AND NO NSAIDS engraved on the plate. I took the metal chain off the plate. I purchased bags on colorful beads and elastic cord to make pretty bracelets to go on the plate. No I can change the beads to change my clothing. The cost of the medical alert bracelet is far less than the ones on the interent.
I hope everyone is doing very well.
Hugs and

That's not a dumb question! Before this surgery, I wouldn't have had a clue, either.
NG Tube - naso gastric tube - the thing they would stick in your nose and down into your stomach if they needed to provide you with nutrition
NSAIDS - pain relievers such as Ibuprophen, which is too hard on our little tummies
Hope that helps!

from your local EMT.....
NG Tube is also used for other things like pumping your stomach or providing you with activated charcoal both of which I have had done in the past and are VERY nasty! LOL! (Don't ask, let's just say I was very bad during my first year of college! LOL!)
NASAID stands for Nonsteral Anti-inflammatory medications.
HTH!

FYI- if you make your bracelet too pretty, it may get overlooked. As an EMT you only have a few seconds to look over and feel for medic alert bracelets and tags during your initial patient assesment. So a "pretty" bracelet may get overlooked at least at first. So don't go overboard with the decorations. There is a reason why they are so big and gaudy...
