I am almost 5 weeks postop and have lost 24 pounds. That added to the 25 pounds I lost over the course of one year prior to surgery puts my total weight loss at 49 pounds!! Mary Ellen Highest weight: 280 Surgery weight: 255 Current weight: 231

Hi Everyone This is my first visit to this board and what a great place to be I came here because I was worried about my scales not moving in the last 4 weeks! I have lost 40 pounds so far and I'm almost 2 months post-op. Reading the posts it sounds like I'm not the only one having this problem at this point in the journey. I haven't been keeping track of my protien intake but this is the first week I have been able to eat food due to a stricture I developed 3 weeks post-op. The advice here has given me hope that this is just a stall and if I up my protien and water intake things may get moving again. I was done open so I haven't been back to my excercise routine yet, but I'm heading back to work next Monday and will start back at CURVES shortly there after. It is nice to meet you all and I am glad to find others who are January post-ops. What amount of protein are we suppose to consume? TTFN Melva

Melva: I am supposed to get in a minimum of 60g of protein per day. However, there is a website (thinnerself.com) that will assess how much protein you need for your weight and height. You could also ask your MD. Good luck, Monique

Thank you for posting that link, that website is AWESOME! And the progress calculator rocks! I was able to see that I am not loosing as slow as I thought I was and I am actually on track to loosing 100% of my excess weight. So if I keep it up I have the potential to reach my "ideal weight" which is like 30+ lbs more than I wanted to loose! LOL! What a motivator! PLUS, from reading that guy's suggestions I think I am gonna order some liquid protein from the same company that he uses. Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~ Jamie M. I am really happy to have lost it, and even more happy to see that I am fairly normal compared to you all. OH, and thanks for the "Thinnerself" website...........very cool!!! Sincerely, Sharon

This Thursday will be 8 weeks out for me, and I am down 69lbs, but have been stuck there for over a week. I am not doing well emotionally or physically for that matter. I am quite depressed and exhausted all the time. I know I'm probably not eating enough - I am exercising but it hasn't helped with the energy. So far this has been nothing like I expected it to be. Glad to hear everyone else is doing pretty well, though! Melissa RNY 01-13-05 399/330/180ish

Melissa- I am so sorry to hear that you are not doing so well physically and emotionally. Have you made an appt. with your PCM to get a check up? Tell him/her your concerns? I had a friend that was low on energy and moody and she found out that she had a hormone imbalance and once she got on some meds for that and her anemia, she sprung back to life! Not sure if it helps or anything but here is a ~HUG~ from me and a hope for a better and brighter day for you!
