Hi All, Does anyone know of any good websites or other info resources regarding working out at home after wls? Although I would like to join a gym, it's impossible with my work schedule and travel time. Right now I own a nice treadmill, air bike, ankle weights and some small dumb bells. I have no idea what guidelines I should be following. I'm one month today out of surgery. Please help! Thanks. Annette

Annette, Check with your Dr's office. Mine sets you up with a physical therapist and a recreational therapist automatically. They gave me some guidelines. I would try to walk on your treadmill for 15 min. If, at 15 min you feeel like you could go on, then go another 5 or 10 minutes. You'll know when you've had enough. Each time or every other time, increase it by 5 minutes until you build up an endurance. I used to belong to a gym and would go on the treadmill until I couldn't go anymore and then I'd sit down on the bike and ride it for a while. At that point, sitting even while I was pedalling felt good. I wish I had a bike here at home. Good luck. For me, it is an issue of motivation to exersize. It will come. Take care. Rhonda

I also do not belong to a gym. I do have the Leslie Sansome walking tapes. They come in sets and it is easy to do but gives a good overall workout. She has 1 mile, 2 miles, 3 miles, evening express. some of the walking is done with weights. I love to walk but not outside in the winter. Too much snow and don't need to take a chance on falling. I know this is not a heavy duty workout but I'm 6 weeks post op and have to start somewhere. I think there is a website or go to Bizrate.com and and search for walking tapes. Good Luck!
