I had my wls on 1-31-05 and today was the first time I experienced the pain in my chest. I didn't hurl but it hurt for a few minutes. I think I might of had a bite too much. I stopped eating until the evening and then I tried a couple bites of chicken and everything seemed to be okay. I am down 27 pounds and am not doing very well on my liquids. I seem to do better with hot tea, decaf green tea. It seems to go down much better than jus****er and my nurse said that was fine to have. I feel great. Just started taking vitamins, b12 and choc chewable calcium. I'm also using vitamist spray vitamins. The doctors office wanted to sell me theirs but I had already bought these and had heard on the website that they were absorbed good and people had good blood work results. I've also discovered a great cereal, CarbWell cinnimon. It has 11 grams of protein, 9 net carbs (14-5g of fiber) and 5 grams of sugar. That's in a 3/4cup size and 110 calories. Goes down great with skim milk. And best of all I got it at the dollar store. Made by Post.

Hi Nancy, I'm Annette. I had an open RNY on January 28, 2005. I've experienced the same with the pain in my chest. Now that I am 2 days shy of 1 month since my surgery I don't get the pain as I did before regarding the pressure you feel in your chest when you have a bit too much. When I experience this feeling, I take it slow and wait before eating or drinking anything else. If I feel up to it I also try to walk, this really helps with the discomfort from the pressure. I know what you mean about the hot tea going down nicely. I drink rasberry tea (decaf of course) and just bought a variety pack of other teas to try them out. I haven't tried any cold cereals yet but have eaten a little oatmeal w/ either splenda or equal mixed with a little lactose milk. It was a little heavy for me so for right now sticking to cottage cheese, peaches and yogurt for breakfast. I always get in my proteins which is so important. I usually have a protein shake early in the morning which consists of Carnation Instant Breakfast mixed with either skim milk or lactaid milk and 1 scoop of whey protein. This has 40mgs of protein. (I was told to take in 60mg). I will have another protein shake in the late afternoon or evening made with flavored protein powder mixed with water and some ice cubes. I blend and it makes a pretty tasty shake. If you can't tolerate the shakes, try Isopure liquid protein. They are like juices and come in flavors like passion fruit, grape, melon kiwi. Each bottle has 40mgs. They sell the drinks at GNC and I have found them in off name nutrician stores as well as the Vitamin Shoppe and a couple of fitness stores. Do you ever worry about stretching your pouch? I do, just a little. I am doing things as instructed but seem to still worry about this. Your thoughts??? GOOD LUCK TO YOU!! Annette
