If your around 4wks out, how much water are you taking in per day? How many grams of protein per day? I went to the dr today and told them that I was getting in around 30-40oz of liquid and around 30g of protein and they said to try to work on getting more but that I was doing great. I am down 26lbs. I also have trouble with meats sometimes as I think my system is still adjusting. They kept telling me everything is trial and error.

Hi Syndi, I had surgery on the same day. I am getting in about the same as you. I had my one month follow-up at PMRI was told that at 4 weeks you need: 48-64 oz of fluids Grams of protein ~ Depending on weight (the protein number you came up with in class) At least 25g of fat 800 - 1000 cals I was not eating enough and my weight loss slowed down. Now I am trying to eat more (sometimes I am trying more than I am eating). I'm down 25 pounds now Take care, Jen

Hi Jen, We are in the same situation. Guess we are normal. Keep up the good work. We'll make it! Sometimes it gets so frustrating for me when it's time to eat and I'm not sure what to eat or what my stomach will hold. P.S. What are you eating? Take Care, Syndi

Hi Syndi, I'm right along with you, I am getting in about 40 oz. of liquid and about 30-40g of protein. They want me getting my protein from foods now rather than liquid but I'm having a hard time with that. And some days I only get in about 500-600 calories. I keep telling myself that if I try to improve that a little each day that I won't do myself long term damage. But I've lost 35 lbs so far so I quess it's still working. Pat 348/313

Hi, guys! I'm 4 weeks out too. But, I guess I'm slightly abnormal. I'm able to get in 64oz(minimum)of fluids, 90 grams of protein(I still have one shake a day) and 800-1050 a day. Mind you, I haven't yet returned to work so, by next month, those numbers are bound to go down. I start at 8 am and get to sleep at midnight so, I manage to get this in in 16 hours. And, luckily, I've only had one bad episode with soft food. Roni

Hi Roni, Great to hear that you are able to do the water and protein. Could you please give us an idea of what exactly you are able to eat in a day(protein drinks, food, etc)? Most of us are nocking our heads around trying to come up with something that will stay down. Thanks, Syndi

Syndi, I am 4 weeks out also and I am getting around 40 oz of fluid and 30 grams of protein in a day. I was at the nutritionist this week and was told I need to increase the protein but I can't do the shakes. Every protein shake I have tried has made me nauseaus (sp?). So now that I am on soft foods I have been trying to eat fish, crab, shrimp at least once a day. I have lost 26 lbs as of my weigh in at the dr on Monday. I need to really work on my liquids, bu****er makes my pouch hurt. Kim

Hi Kim, You sound exactly like me. I just recently got the unflavored protein powder and am trying to put some into whatever I can. When i went to my 4wk check up they told me to eat whatever type of cheese I prefer since it has the calcium and protein we need so badly. Right now I am trying 1/4 of a grilled cheese sandwich using wheat bread and spray butter. So far its doing ok in my tummy. Take care, Syndi

Spray butter... now that's an excellent idea! How did it taste on the grilled cheese. I think I know what I am eating for lunch today! Sue R.
