I am 5 1/2 weeks out, down 30.5 pounds. I go through periods of time when I lose 1/2 to 1 pound per day - then 5 days with nothing. I was dehydrated early on and gained a few pounds. If you aren't getting enough liquids in your body will hold on to those liquids and you can stop losing or even gain a few pounds - that happened to me. Hang in there I know it is frustrating...it gets better. You will find each week gets better and that you will be able to take in more liquids easier with time. I had some complications and couldn't do anything for 4 weeks when boom - I felt so much better and started to add excercise and was able to go back to work as well.

Sandra, I'm right there with you! I had posted last week about losing slow. I haven't been weighed for 10 days now. I had surgery one day before you. At 16 days post op, I was down 13 pounds and thought it would have been more like 20! I also have a lot to loose (155 lbs) so expected to be a quicker process. Hang in there, you're not alone! --Jezz

I feel for ya Sandra!! Add one more to the s-l-o-w loser group because I'm almost 3 weeks out and have lost 14 pounds. I had to put the scale away because it's driving me nuts weighing myself everyday. I know we shouldn't compare ourselves to others, but it gets discouraging when you read posts of people losing a lot more than you (especially if they were at a similar starting weight). Let's keep the faith that we'll be successful too!! Mary Ellen

Sandra- Don't get in a big hurry. I went for my 6 week check last week and had lost 37 pounds. The doctor said I had lost to much to soon. You don't want to be unhealthy. I have had a real problem being able to eat and drink and run the risk of becoming sick. You don't want to take that risk. Take it slow and stay healthy!!!!!!!It sounds like you are doing it the way you should. Be glad things are going well. Good luck. Wanda

Thanks to everyone *****plied. I guess we are just the odd ones out this time around. It sort of 50/50 things some plateau and so do not. Hopfully we will all move along within another week or so. I am still on a plateau after 7 days, so I hope by Sunday to see something moving or inches... Sandra

I too had RNY on 1/25/2005. I too am on a plateau. I have not lost any pounds since my Dr. visit on 2/10. However, I have lost inches. I am wearing clothes I haven't worn in a couple of years. I talked to a diatician today (she is in my water aroebics classes). Her comment was that she would much rather loose inches than lbs. So with that, I am doing much better mentally. I go back to my surgeon on Mon. and am anxious to hear what he says about it. Hang in there and let it be known, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. Tanna

Ladies, I had my surgery on January 4th and wanted to say that what you all are going through is very Normal. I came home from the hospital and started eating a few days later. I wasn't supposed to but did. At about week 4 I hit a plateau and stayed there a month. I went back to work started getting in my water and boom lost again. I'm happy to say I'm down 42 pounds and please know it's nothing with you it's just our bodies freak out at the weight loss and has to readjust. You WONT fail chins up and hang in there. Hugs.........Tammy
