On a plateau already

Well I am somewhat disapointed. After 2.5 wks post op I had lost 24.8 lbs. Since then I have gained back 2 lbs. I do not weight again until next week on Tues which is my 1 mth aniversary. But I surely hoped to have lost at least 1lb per day for the 1st month. I have 180 lbs to lose, so I thought for sure I would be a fast looser for at least the first 3 mths. But I am sure not doing as well as I hoped.
I do struggle getting in the water and typically only drink about 38 oz daily water, with another 8 oz or so of tea. I eat 4-6 mini meals as directed by my doctor and get about 40-70 grams of protein daily. I am not going over 800 calories.
I know I need to be calm about this, but I guess just like others I am disapointed since I feel this is my last chance to get the weight off.
Other than this, I am doing well no dumping yet, no ing and the pain or pulled muscle in my left side is better, finally able to sleep on my tummy these last few nights.
Due to the pull I have not been walking as much as I was, but plan to begin it again as soon as I feel it will not cause more problems on the left side. The doctor told me to chill about the walking until I was at least 4wks out.
Well hopefully things will pick up soon for me.

Sandra,
Reading your history post-op sounds like ME! I am 5 weeks out now, and had a plateau at the same time. Girl, just relax! EVERYONE has this in the 1st few weeks. You are due for a BIG steady loss. Exercise helps, but is not essential now. Just keep doing what you are doing. Relax!

I hope you are right. I am 4 wks on Tuesday Feb 22nd. But you seem to be doing better than I as well. But I admit to having problems getting the H2O in. I try everyday to get more and more, but it's difficult. Especailly since prior to surgery I was drinking 100oz per day plus one diet coke. Time will tell I guess.

Hey Sandra,
I'm right there with you but you have lost WAY more than me. My surgery was 1/26/05. I'm still on full liquids only per doctor's protocol and I've only lost 14 pounds. I'm starting to feel like I'm the small percentage of people that this surgery doesn't work for.
But from everything I read from all boards, you will start losing more and better in another couple of weeks. The hardest part is keeping our hope alive, so hang in there! In 3 or 4 months you're gonna be down so far you're gonna forget feeling this way!
Take Care,
Valerie

I am sure you and Lou Ann are right. But my doctor mentioned I should drop close to 40 in the 1st month, and obviously that is not going to happen. It's just so annoying. When I saw the Doctor last, I met a lady in the waiting room who was right at 4wks and she was much smaller than I and she had dropped 40, so I guess I was just hoping I would do the same. But oh well time will tell.

Dont worry about it we all have these plateus. me and a friend of mine both had the surgery a day apart her the 17th and me the 18th, we both hit a plateau after the 2nd week, and after the 4th week we began dropping again. we were also both froze on the scale for 2 weeks . so dont worry it will come off. I thought i was gonna be a failure but i have lost 4 more pounds now whooo hooo.
Hi Sandra,
I thought that I was the only one stuck at my 5 weeks out. I have lost 29 pounds and I have not really exercised myself. I just bought a Gazelle at Wal-Mart and I am going to begin working on it daily. I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that is stuck. It is funny I will weigh myself in the morning and then again in the evening and I weigh about 2 to 3 pounds more. I have been at 280 for about 2 weeks now and I was starting to get discouraged but now that I know that it is not only me I feel better. Hang in there girl and we will beat this. My surgery was January 13th. I will keep in touch with you and we will do this together. Chat with you later.

Gals,
It is only natural that we are all feeling this way. Let's face it, most of us are instant gratification kinda people so its stands to reason that we want to see results now, now, now. I have been going thru the same type thing myself. Surgery was 1/10 and I am down 30lbs. I was hoping to be at 45lbs by six weeks out. I don't see that happening. People keep reminding me to not compare myself to others. That is good and important advice. As long as we are following dr's orders there is nothing to worry about. Whether we are down 25, 30, or 45 lbs, put it in perspective...a year from now we will be down 100, 125, or 150lbs. That is so exciting! Stay strong and keep on keeping on.
P.S.
I am new to this board. I am 29years old and looking forward to finally living instead of existing.

Sandra,
I know what I am going to say might be hard to do, but it has worked for me, and keeps me sane...
I don't have a set of scales....I had surgery on 1-31-05 and was weighed then, but have not been since. I can feel that I am loosing weight...and know the weight WILL come off!!....But I am not going to be a slave to the scales.
You WILL loose, this is a wonderful thing you are doing for yourself!
Blessing for a fast and safe weight loss.
