blood and glucose in my urine
I felt it coming on yesterday. The dreaded bladder infection. I called my doctor late yesterday evening, of course he was gone, so the nurse told me to drink as much water as possible and come in this morning to give them a specimen. She called me at work and told me, yes I do have a bladder infection, but also, my glucose level was very high. I said, "WHAT??? I haven't had sugar in almost 6 weeks! How can I have high glucose???? Welllllll, I had eaten cornflakes with 1/4 banana before I went, so I am hoping and praying that my breakfast is the cause for the high glucose count this morn. I'm going in tomorrow morning to give a fasting blood and urine test to make sure I'm not turning into a diabetic! Surely, that could not happen, could it? This is one of the main reasons I had the wls, was so I would not become a diabetic. I have a family history of it. Needless to say, I nearly flipped when she told me the glucose count. I started thinking about all the carbohydrates I've had and I will admit, that percentage does outweigh the protein percentage. Main thing learned from this......GET YOUR PROTEIN IN! It seems easier to snack on a cracker or to eat a baked potato (it just goes down so much easier)then to try and eat or drink the protein drinks that are pretty less than tolerable.
Talk about a journey! I'm learning something new every day! Thanks to all of you here for your support and encouragement. Yall are the only ones who understand! I would like to know if anyone else has experienced this problem. And if so, how are you handling it??
Take care,
Shar
