I am six days post op and was wondering how long you're suppose to wear this bellybinder. I feel better when it's off. I get my staples out tomorrow and the drain tube out. The binder is getting too lose and rubs on my incision. Anyone know????

Hi Nancy, I had mine off as much as I could, but when doing some treadmill work I put it on and also when I was in my truck. It seems to help with it on when you hit bumps... You will know when you can ride with out it hurting so you don't react to the pain unstead of driving. Good luck on everything.... take care...

HI. MY DR TOLD ME TO WEAR MINE ALL THE TIME, BUT I CAN TAKE IT OFF AT NIGHT WHEN I GO TO BED. HE WANTS HIS PATIENTS TO WEAR IT FOR 3 MONTHS AFTER THEIR SURGERY. ALSO, I WILL WEAR IT AFTER THE 3 MONTHS FOR WORKING OUT AND DOING ANYTHING STRENOUS. SUE

Hi Nancy, I had my surgery on Jan 11, 2005. My doctor told me when I left the hospital that i could stop wearing the binder when I felt well enough without it. I think I wore it 1 day before I gave it up. It was rubbing my incision as well. I feel great and as long as I am careful about lifting I think I am fine. Coni P

I still wear mind form time to time! Just make sure you wear a clean white cotton t-shirt underneath it and if it is really still rubbing your incision take a sock and fold it up in half and lay it over your incision before you put on the binder. That is what I did and it helped a lot. My doc said that the binder releaves pressure on the incision, supports the muscle and helps the underlying tissues to make their connections to each other easier and smoother. (That is why you have to wear one after most plastics... so the tissues have an easier time reconnecting to themselves after being sperated during the surgery.) HTH! Jamie
