CONFUSED!!!!
Hi All. I'm new to this chat room. I had open RNY on January 7th. I was wondering how much fluid intake are you all getting? I call the Dr. office because I as still so tired with no energy. The head nurse told me that I should cut back on my water! I drink 64 oz of water plus 2 ll oz. protein drinks and kool-aid sweetened with Splenda every day. She told me that the water is making me tired and to cut back. Has anyone else been told this? I am constantly drinking. If I don't I'm always thirsty. Help!!!
Thanks,
Sheila

i am drinking about between 32- 48 onces of water and crystal light lemonade plus 2 ounces of protien shake a day and that is what my dr wants me to drink i was done on the 18 of jan just got moved to diet #2 i have still been tired but my dr says that is normal for about a month or 2 because of all the work they did he said that is normal i just went for my 2 week check up yesterday and that is what he told me
In all my years I have NEVER heard of water making you tired. Matter of fact staying hydrated keeps you healthy and awake! LOL! Although you are getting plenty of fluids! When figuring out your "water" intake you should count all of your "liquids" in with that although at least half should be zero calorie fluids like water. You don't want to "drink" all your calories in a day if you know what I mean.
Personally I have to constantly drink or I am dying of thrist so I am alternating water with crystal lite or watered down 100% juice. I get in about 60-70 oz of "water substitutes" or water daily not including my protein drinks or soups or anything.
To me it sounds like you are tired b/c your body is adjusting still and not used to the decreased calories, vitamens, etc...
Are you getting enough protein? Are you taking your multi vitamins 2x a day? Maybe you need to go in and have bloodwork done just to make sure everything is alright?
HTH! Jamie
