Still having significant pain....
Hi everyone! First of I want to thank EVERYONE who sent me your well wishes leading up to and in the days since my surgery. They were much appreciated and really helped me go through with everything. I do have a question though. I still am feeling a large amount of painin my left lower abdomen and sometimes it feels like a burning sensation. Tomorrow will be one week since I had the surgery and a few other people told me that they felt pretty much back to normal after only a few days. Do you guys think this is something I should be worried about? I don't want to call my doctor yet again for him to tell me it's something normal. Thanks for your time!

Hi Sarah,
I had surgery the same day as you did and I still hurt at the drain site which is at my upper left abdomen. I'd give it...oh, a 3 or 4 out of 10. Otherwise, I feel really good. The thing that really hurts me is gas. It hurts high and I seem to have to burp fairly frequently which also hurts a lot. It feels like someone's stabbing my incision site with a fork! I'm imagining though, that you could have the gas lower down which might result in more frequent farting (which doesn't seem to hurt!). When I say I feel good, it's like having a broken arm - your arm hurts but the rest of you feels fine. My stomach hurts but the rest of me doesn't feel bad at all. Of course you should always check with your doctor if you're afraid something might be wrong. Just letting you know what my experience is. Good luck!
Sarah,
I am 13 days out and have been having a similiar problem. My nurse said it sounded like I was constipated. She had me take a full dose of "milk of magnesia" which worked in a few hours. It seemed to help alot. If it is not constipation you should call your doctor. After-all you paid good money to your doctor don't be afraid to call!
Hope you feel better soon.
