3.5 wks post op, stricture/narrow, back on liquids, diabetes not gone
Hi Everyone,
I had my lap RNY on 1/4/05. I had no complications other than some blood in my urine.
Post op pain was a bit shocking though, especially on left side and those GAS PAINS! Wow!
I stopped using morphine pump because of nausea and went home with low dose Vicodin.
I found that my diabetes is still with me at nearly 4 weeks out.
Is that normal? When should it disappear?
At 3 weeks out on pureed food, I started having terrible pain in my chest after I swallowed the food or drink. Way down at bottom of chest/top of abdomen.
Turns out I had a stricture of the anamastosis (narrowing of new opening between stomach and intestines) and had to have an endoscopy to dilate it.
Also found ulcers all around new opening.
Now I am back on liquids for 48 hours but they still hurt somewhat going down.
I am worried that it closed right back up. They said it may have to be dilated again in a few weeks but this is 1 day after dilation.
Also, was worried that something was done wrong because I was hungry a lot, was able to eat more than 2 tblspns of food and am glad to see it is not only me.
Still cannot sleep on side though and having back pain from the whole business.
Has anyone else had this narrowing?
