welcome to the losing side. Now, just take it easy and let the old body adjust. Remember to walk. It helps the bloated feeling to pass quicker. Lou Ann

I had the open RNY on 1-24-2005 so I am also 5 days post-op! It really has been hard thesse last 5 days but it is getting easier to get around. As far as the oxygen goes.... they want me to cough up everything and it is hard enough to breathe yet alone cough! So I can understand them wanting you to use the oxygen. Are you still on it? Are you getting better? I do find every day to be a bit beter than the day before though. Hope you do too. I am still trying to learn my way around on this site so have patience. Good luck to you and I hope everything keeps going well fo you. Take care. Hope to talk to you soon

Jan, does your hospital have an "Inspiratory Incentive Device"? It is this big tube with measurements on it and a hose. You INHALE through the hose and try to get the little arrow in the tube to rise above certain numbers. It really helps to bring up that crap from your lungs and it forces your lungs open! HTH! Jamie

Hey I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op and my dr is Dr. Pearce too. I'm doing pretty good too. Getting hungry and scared to try meat and stuff even though I need too. Got some chicken stuck and now I'm gun shy so to speak. glad to hear your doing fine. Marti
