Surgery Tomorrow
Hi everyone.
I am starting to get the jitters about tomorrow. I know what to expect as far as getting to the hospital and getting all prepared, but from there on no clue. I'm just hoping that everything goes as planned with not surprises. This is my second surgery date and I want this to happen so bad. Any suggestions on calming my nerves or what to expect while in the hospital would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
My good friend nurse Paula had the surgery before me. She said"
1. You will be hurting on you left side mostly. You might have a drain tube. You may have a nasal tube. You will have a catheter for your bladder. You may have as many as three i.v.'s or as few as one when you wake up. They will probably give you a button to push for pain meds. Pu**** as much as needed. You can't overdose, but you will be constipated( morphine does that especially.) You can't have ice or water the first day, but they have mouth swabs for you if you ask.
2. The first time out of the bed is the worst, but walk as much as you can to get out the gas and heal the muscles. I did this and it worked.
3. The stuff you are most scared of, probably won't happen.
4. Life feels great 6 days later(sore, but great) That's from me.
God Bless and try to relax. We have all been there. Deep breath.
