7 days post op and still in pain!!!!
Are you sure it is pain? Could is be gas? I ask becuase the gas can be worse. I had lap rny on the 3rd and i experienced what i thought was pain but it was just gas. what type of pain is it? I had muscle pain in my stomach and it hurt very bad...advil liquid tablets helped me. i hope you feel better soon. if not call your doctor
My guess would be gas also. I had lap rny the 18th too and have had no pain med since 19th. The gas pain however was a whole different story. That is just now finally disappearing. I am still sore, but not to the point of not being able to handle it. I would talk to my dr. I hope you get to feeling better.

As far as I've been told, everyone recovers from surgery differently. Some are tender or in pain longer than others. Some of us bruise easier and a lot inside and/or out from the instruments moving in and out of those little bitte holes. Some have practically no visible bruising and/or pain. I am 6 days postop and am very bruised on the outside. I also still have some pain on the inside. Each day it does seem to get better, though, and is mainly only in two of the incisional areas. I also have gas pains sometimes, which feels totally different to me now.
Try to be patient and hopefully the pain will get better each day.
Take care,
Sue R.
If it is gas try Gas X with Mallox chewables. If two or three of those do not work then maybe it is not gas and you should make a follow up appointment. Shouldn't you be getting your staples out soon anyways? Have you made a BM yet? The build up before my first BM was TERRIBLELY PAINFUL, but after it was out, I felt like I was on cloud nine.
I am 7 days post op OPEN RNY and I am pain med free, although I am still taking my anti-inflmmatory (doc's orders). HTH!
Brightest Blessings for a Wonderful Day~

Jeannie,
I had a LAP RNY on the 6th, and I am still in a lot of pain. I developed an infection in one of my incisions, and had to go on antibiotics for 2 weeks. I went to the doctor today and things are much better, but he said I may have "nusence pain" for weeks to come. Hang in there and it will get better. Call your doctor if it is not better in a couple of days, and be on the lookout for things like redness around an incision, spike in tempurture, oozing or draining out of any incision.

Hi Kid,
I had the same operation and I was pretty sore for a few days..everyday has gotten better for me...but the left side by the big incision grabs me..and I will take one dose of pain meds to go to sleep at night now and that's it...for me I feel very bloated..like I am still retaining water..and I don't feel like I am losing weight....was sent home on soft diet..so not really "starving"...everyone's pain tolerance is different..and if you hurt..you hurt! my doc was great and just ordered more pain meds to get me through to the 2 week check up...at first bending over and getting in and oout of the car were KILLERS and i could feel the muscles pulling....but it will get better hun..hang in..don'[t let anyone invalidate your experience!
hugs,
Sher'.
