My surgery date us 1/31/05...yeah.... I had to lose 10% , which was 42lbs. I am very proud of myself, it was hard work, and it took 4 months! I am soooo ready now for the surgery, Now people here at work have really been pouring it on, about how good I look now. They are saying I can do it by myself, I don't need to do that "dangerous surgery." They have started to leave articles on my desk, of things they have been reading, mostly bad, about the surgery. 2 months ago, everyone was excited about my surgery. Now they are starting to give me doubts. I am sure that other people have gone thru this, how did you handle your co-workers' "good intentions"?

I know how hard it was for you to lose that 42lbs! People just don't get it!!!! Do they understand how easy it would be for you to regain that and then some???? How much worse is that for you and your health??? A lot of people think this is an easy out. They don't know the ups and downs and the havoc this weight puts on our bodies. Just remember you are not having this surgery to please anyone. You are taking care of you! This is the tool you will be using to control your addiction. I just told the "naysayers" ....Drastic means takes drastic measures. "Would you rather live in THIS body or YOUR body???? They need to learn to empathyze with you. Get them to put themselves in your shoes. Uh oh, you opened up a soap box for me....I'll calm down. Bottom line, Susie, if you want this surgery, then do it for YOU! I promise you won't regret it! Good Luck, Shar

Susie, Listen you your inner self. Only you knows what's best for you. Other people even well intentioned ones don't live in your body or deal with what you deal with. Know that the path you have chosen is YOUR path and no one elses. This surgery is to save your life not take it. The risks of surgery are there for every surgery they just never tell you the risks when you are sick. Think of all the people praying for you and all the good wishes and the ones supporting you. I will be having surgery the same day. I will pray for you and you pray for me and trust the surgeon you have chosen. God Bless you and try to relax and get ready for the ride of your life.
