Hi Everyone: I would like to hear from people that have had surgery for my age group. I am in my early 50"s. I am starting this journey and am both scared and excited. I work in the admissions department at CMC. I have probrobly met a lot of you that came to our facility in Ithaca, NY. I plan on attending the next support group and would like to hear from anyone. Thanks

Hi Darlene, I'll be 52 the fourth of next month and I had my surgery this month on the 7th. The doctor said I was the "easiest in and out" he's done in a while. I had it done laproscopically and I should say my recovery has been quite easy. I have had only a little soreness and the gas lasted about a week. I've had one episode of "dumping" It was an experience I wish not to go through again. I ate some tuna salad with celery and that was a big NO NO. I knew better, but I'm one of these that has to learn the hard way. My mistakes are my best teacher. Anyway, if you will do exactly as your doctor and dietician instruct, you will have no problems. I carry my booklet with me everywhere! I've lost about 17 pounds so far and I am so looking forward to whittling away to a size 8 at least! Good luck on your journey, and if you have more questions, don't hesitate to ask. God bless,~~~~Char
