I have a surgery date for Jan. 25 and am getting nervous and anxious. i need to know what to supply at home as far as getting prepared to come home from the hospital. I am a single mother of two and need to know how long I will need help around the house. What groceries will I need? What are any lifesavers that you used or tried to eat and worked well in the first couple of weeks? etc. Any advice?

i go for mine on the 18 i do know you will need help for a bit how old are your children? if they are young you wont be able to lift anything for quiet a while cause you could give yourself a hernia .. so be very careful on lifting things .. keep me posted on how you do ... best of luck to you debby

Kerrina, If you are into sweets, stock up on jell-o pudding, gelatin, and sugar free popscicles. The protein powder I use is my biggest help (it will help you keep your hair). It's zero carb Isopure & mixes really well. Two scoops, a cup of milk (or water), and a few ice cubes - pulse in a blender and you have a yummy milkshake! If you are a salty person (like me), I absolutely HATED plain canned chicken broth. I bought canned soups I like (chicken noodle, vegetable beef, minestrone, etc.), cooked as directed, then drained the broth into a coffee cup. You can just sip away! Stock the freezer with quick and easy things for the kids till you get more moving. Frozen pizzas, chicken nuggets, Bagel Bites, and Pizza Rolls are favorites of my kids. And it won't hurt them to have PB&J a few times, either. I go for my post op appointment tomorrow (10 days post op) and hopefully he will say I can start lifting my daughter again (24 pounds). She has done fine sitting with me, but she really loves to run up and go "hold me, hold me, hold me!!" Remember to take it slow and easy (or as easy as you can). The more time you take in the beginning to heal, the quicker you will be back on your feet and MOVING!! Hope that helps! Amanda
