Hello All, I am new to this. I am one week post-op!! YEAH me... I have been on clear liquids for the past 8 days... Is there relief in sight? I have my post-op appointment scheduled for 19 Jan and I am not sure that I can stay on clear liquids that long. My diet consists of sugar-free jello, chicken broth, water, sugar-free popsicles, water, vitamins. Is there something out there that I might be missing? Please dont get me wrong, I am not hungry I guess I am just ready for something more substantial than clear liquids... Anyone gone to soft foods after 8 days? Any and all suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Barbara Kimbell

Barbara, All docs are so different - my post op is tomorrow and I have to eat an egg (however I like it) before I go to see if I can handle soft proteins. If so, then he will switch me to that. I am 9 days post op and was brave enough to try the broth and kidney beans from som minestrone soup today. Best thing I ever did! Also, if you are able to try the protein shakes, it's a HUGE help. I use the Zero Carb Isopure in chocolate or vanilla - it mixes up REALLY well and you can use water or skim milk - add a couple ice cubes, pulse it in a blender and TA-DA!! A post op milkshake! You can also add the protein powder to Jell-o pudding! Gives it more staying power. Hope that helps! Amanda

Amanda, WOW, thanks for the quick repsonse... Is it always that quick on here? Like I said in the earlier post, this is my fisrt day posting here. The support already received is great!! I think I will try the egg, broth with beans (not at the same time of course) and see how it works. Thanks again, Barbara

Barbara, Not sure how quick it normally is - I just happened to be on here & thought I could help. I usually get quick responses in the evening, when most are getting off work, but for us "newbies" who can't go back to work yet, you never know when we'll turn up... Amanda

Barbara, Im 6 days post op and in the same boat. I go to the doctor tomorrow to get this drain out, and im going to ask him if i can get some veggie soup or that kind of thing I can blend and make a pureed food. All I have done is think of food today and even went so far as to suck on a piece of sausage from my daughters pizza. I have been on this liquid diet since Dec. 27 to help shrink my liver and now to heal. I can't wait to chew again. Lauren A BIG loser 335/329/170
