Hi Everyone, My program requires me to lose 10% (13lbs for me) of your weight prior to surgery. It is now 9 days until my scheduled surgery and I have 8 pounds to lose. I suppose I understand why they require you to lose weight pre-operativly, but what's frustrating is that not all programs have this requirement. My brother-in-law is having his WLS 5 days after me and is enjoying all his favorite foods one last time. I am fighting so hard in this battle that I have always lost before. They are talking about canceling my surgery as though I am not trying as hard as I can. What is even more frustrating is that before I entered my program, I put myself on the atkins diet and had lost 7 pounds but they will not accept that as my starting weight. Well, I count it, which means to-date, I have lost 12 pounds. My nutritionist says I am making all the right choices and I am exercising so the only thing that makes sense is that I must have hit a plateau and the timing couldn't be worse. I have now put myself on the Slim Fast diet only I am having a shake for ALL three meals. I can't help but feel angry. I wiegh in on Friday and the scale better move or I really give up!!! Thanks for letting me vent!

Don't give up. My doctor put me on a liver shrinking diet 2 weeks before my surgery because I am having a Lap RNY. My date is Jan. 20th. It is a clear liquid diet with protein shakes. The protein shakes requirement is they have to have less then 5 grams of sugar and 5 grams of carbs. Three days into the diet, he told me I could have meat, cheese and eggs but NO carbs. I have been eating a small amount of meat for one meal, homemade beef and chicken broth (with no vegies for seasoning), sf jello, and lots of sf drinks. In 5 days I have lost 10 pounds! The slim fast is loaded with sugar and the protein drinks keep me fuller longer. Hope this might help you. Good Luck!
