And so glad to be here! My surgery took one hour and 45 minutes. I was in recovery for an hour and then up to my room. I was in and out of conciousness, so I don't remember anything about the first day, only that the nurses said I was up and walking to the bathroom 2 hours after I got to my room. They couldn't believe it. The problem is, being in that state of mind, I probably didn't know any better. I'm pretty stubborn and no one told me not to do it, sooooo they got me up every two hours after that and made me walk whether I wanted to or not. It must really help with recovery and pain! I have not had any pain whatsoever. Just a lot of soreness. To all the pre-ops.....just know that even though you are scared and nervous (which is so normal!) you will have the opposite emotions when you become a post-op. My advise: DO EXACTLY AS THE DOCTOR SAYS! and you will do great. Also, try your best to get a private room. I couldn't get one with the overload of patients. Bless her little heart, my roommate was 81 years old, had diabetes, congestive heart failure, and just came up from having surgery on her cancerous colon. She had a wonderful family, but after just so long you can begin to take only so much. My dh couldn't stay with me at all and the second night, when he began to tell me goodbye, I broke down. Of course that upset him, but I think it was all my repressed emotions finally coming to a head. Thankfully, I was able to come home on Sunday. And so here I am, on my way to being a loser! I got on scales this morning and I'm down 8 pounds. I'm just going to take each day as it comes and do exactly like I'm suppose to.

Thank you Tammy. I would love to compare notes with you. Email me and tell me what you are sipping on and I will do the same. Never hurts to get different ideas along the way. So far, I have had chicken broth, sf jello and sf popsicles. Tomorrow I will try some cream soups. Thanks again for your thoughts and prayers...mine are with you too. Now a loser too, Charlene

Charlene I am so happy honey that you are doing well, i knew you would! I too am doing very well, just sore from sitting too much hard to walk when it is snowing and blowing outside...lol I do my laps up and down the hallway and around the living room and then sit back down. Im sorry you were not able to have a private room. Dr. Fallang only has private rooms and they are big and beautiful, my hubby had a pull out bed to sleep on and was there both nights I was there. Im so glad it is over as i know you have to be also. hugs Kim
