Anyone else out there have to do a 5 day liquid diet before surgery? If so please let me know how you felt during it. I am exhausted and can't stay out of the bathroom, and some of the clear liquids make me nauseated. Anyone else feel this way??

I was supposed to have a 2 week liquid diet. I am in my third day of it but my surgeon told me this morning that I can have meat, cheese and eggs but no carbs. So this is going to help me. The last three days have been trying but it is so worth it to have the Lap RNY. My main liquid was my protein shakes with a little bouillion and jello and of course the popciles. I learned yesterday if I drink more water it really helps. Good Luck with your surgery. (Mine is Jan. 20) My prayers are with you. God Bless

I only have to do three days and today is my second day and I am climbing the walls. I"m very hungry and my family is eating KFC and they went to the store and came back with donuts, and candy. How can I make it like this.

Hi Sharon..and all... I have been on one/"we'd rather see 2" a day meal replacement with protein shakes since 11/19. All through the Holidays! Uh! But I have lost close to 20 lbs and I am slowly warming up to the full liquid diet. My Dr., Dr. Greene in MD says this is to somewhat decrease my abdominal girth and decrease the fat/size of my liver so the procedure is more likely to go well as a LAP. I have many different shakes that I can drink and sometimes I find it easier than figuring out my food limitations. I start total meal replacement with 3-4 shakes a day and SF Jell-O/ broth/etc. in-between tomorrow. My surgery is 1/25. I have lots of issues I am uncovering in the absence of the food. I find journaling and talking with you all and other on line support groups is very helpful. I was at work last night and just started crying for no reason. Today I slept 12 hours. I have less and less energy. I assume this is from the decreased carbs but I will talk with them at my preop appoint on 1/11. Over all I am fairing well but I DO miss food and texture. But the way I look at it I have had more than my fair share for so long that it is my turn to only get just what I need even if I dislike it. Cannot wait to be on the other side. My friends at work already tease me and we call each other 'Big Losers' so they will be amused when I call myself a big loser! I can't wait to be one. Best to all, Carolyn
