Insurance Paranoia...(yes..AGAIN!)

Hi! OK..here is my lates obsessional worry...sorry..can't help it! I got my approval on Dec 21 for Jan 19/05....Anthem BCBC State Preferred (I am a state employee)....of course all these rumors are going around about the Anthem network CANCELLING coverage for 2005..etc.. if we got approved in 2004 for surgery in 2005..then there should be no problem right? I figure we January "babis" must be in the most vulnerable spot? I am a CT resident. Any thoughts or information on this? Thanks Happy New Year! Sher'

Sher' I can tell you what Excellus BCBS Utica told me on Thursday...they said that if they give you approval for a date in the future, then you are approved. I was told the only way that it wouldn't be approved is if I submited my request in 04 and it wasn't approved before 05 (meaning you didn't give them enough time to approve). Call your insurance and ask...I'm sure its the same. I was really worried about this, because I too had been told that my insurance company was no longer providing coverage after 1/05...my request wasn't sent in until this past Tuesday...and it was approved on Thursday...with a surgery date of 1/17. I think you're fine, honestly...but to be 100% sure, call your insurance companys precertification line. Brandy
