Hello and Happy New Year
Hello all and a happy healthy new year to each one of you here.
Well I am now four days away from surgery and am getting kind of nervous now. I'm very excited but getting scared also.
I have a question to ask you, did anyone have to drink the Phosoda (I'm not sure if I spelled it right) to clean out there systems before surgery?
Two of my girlfriends that had this surgery a year ago had to drink it, but my doctor told me no, just the usual, nothing after midnight, etc.
Last night I drank my last few glasses of mead, which is a delicious honey wine, yummy. Anyway, please let me know if any of you guys out there had to do anything special before surgery. Thank you one and all and good luck on your surgeries and a healthy speedy quick recovery.
Hi Sandra,
Happy new year to you too. My date is the 7th and to tell the truth, I'm getting a little nervous also. My doctor told me the same as yours, except no food after 7 pm and nothing to drink after midnight. I have heard of some folks having to go on clear liquids the week or two before surgery...I think I'm going to try to just have the liquids this week before I go in on the 7th. I think it has something to do with the liver.?? Oh, I heard another hint the other day. Take some Phazyme or gas X with you because you will have a lot of pain from the gas they fill you with. Sounds lovely doesn't it??? I wish you the best for the new you in the new year!
God bless,
Charlene
Hello and happy new year Charlene. Thank you for getting back to me.
That is interesting about the gas. I haven't heard about that. Last nite ( New Year's Eve) and today I am eating some of my favorite comfort foods for the last time. Two friends who have had the surgery are taking me out to brunch tomorrow 1/3. They both look and feel wonderful and have been my inspiration to go this route. Both of them had to drink stuff to clean out their systems, that is why I posted a message asking.
So you are going to be a "January Baby" also!! Good for you. Good luck to you and I wish you a healthy speedy recovery.
HELLO SANDRA. BEST WISHES FOR YOU DURING AND AFTER YOUR SURGERY. MY SURGEON HAS HIS PATIENTS DRINK MAGNESIUM CITRATE AT 5PM AND NPO AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE MC CLEANSES OUT YOUR SYSTEM COMPLETELY. HIS RATIONAL IS SO THAT THERE WILL BE LESS CHANCE OF CONTAMINATION OF THE BOWEL INTO THE CAVITY WHICH COULD RESULT IN A SYSTEMIC INFECTION. HE ALSO PRESCRIBES A ABT PROPHALACTICALLY TO PREVENT ANY SEPTIC INFECTIONS THAT MAY HAVE GOTTEN INTO AREAS OF OUR OPEN CAVITY THAT IT SHOULDN'T HAVE. WHEN IT ALL BOILS DOWN, IT IS BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY. HE HAS TO PROTECT THE WELFARE OF HIS CLIENTS AS WELL AS HIS LICENSE. HAPPY NEW YOU AND HAPPY NEW YEAR.
RUTH B.
Hello and Happy New Year to you Ruth B. Thanks for getting back to me.
I am now 3 days away and getting nervous. I'm also getting excited as for the first time in my life, I'm on the road to thin! Thanks for the tip on the MC. My doctor told me I didn't have to do anything, but today I had lunch with two girlfriends who had the surgery a year ago and look and feel great. They also had to drink so Phoso-soda (not sure if I spelled it right!) and a few other folks on the board also had to do a cleansing, so I will also. It really can't hurt!! Tomorrow I just have to run out and pick up a few more things to have at home and I guess the bathroom will be the place I spend the most time in tomorrow!!! hehehe
I see your surgery is January 19th. I wish you all the best and a speedy recovery too. Take care and lets keep in touch. After all, we are the new "January Babies".
