About two years ago I found out I had a blood clot in my left leg. Quite extensive I was told. Was in the hospital for 4 days. Was given "heprin" I believe. Then was given injections for luvonox (sic). Had to do that for a few weeks...was also on blood thinner for about 6 months. Had an ultrasound and everything was ok...no problems since then. Take a 81mg aspirin every morning.... Will any of this effect my surgery. Any special have to be done before, durning or after? Just wondering if anyone has had this also....thanks in advance...Happy New Year!!!

I had a history of pulmonary emboli (blood clot in lung) 20 years ago and because of it my doctor requires me to have a filter put in my artery before my surgery. I think the blood clot in your leg could have led to a pulmonary emboli if it wasn't caught. Once I have the filter put in it decreases any chance of a blood clot reaching my lung again. I have heard this procedure is done as an out patient and relatively painless but costs around $1,200. But it is really worth it. Good Luck, Karen

Hello I had a blood clot in my lung 4 years ago and I have been on coumadin blood thinner every since then. They will take me off my coumadin sometime before surgery and I am getting a filter put in on the 20th of January my surgery date is on the 24th thats to help not get a blood clot in my lung again. Good luck. Lavonda
