Hi I am Robin, I live in South Dakota and I have my surgery date as of last week and it is Jan. 3rd. My friend Dora just had her surgery 2 days ago and i went and seen her and that probably wasn't the best thing to do.. It scarred me to death.. but i am still doing it. I know this is for the best. I havn't talked to anyone on here so if anyone would like to help out i would GREATLY appreciate it.. My husband is in Iraq and I have another military wife that is going with me. Thank goodness for her.. I will never forget her doing all this for me. But it would be nice to talk to someone that is going threw this the same month as i am.. Robin

Hi there Robin.... My name is Stacy and I'm from PA and I am having my surgery on Jan 3rd as well in NJ. I am scared as well. I've been walking around in a daze for the last few days. I can't wait for the surgery part to be over.....This is the first time I have ever responded on this site. I was just on mapquest.com looking for a hotel to stay at the night before the surgery. My mom and aunt are going to stay near the hospital while I'm in the hospital. Your subject line caught my eye because of the statement a little scared. I know how you feel. I wish you great luck and success and I hope to keep in touch with you so we can compare hospital stories.... Stacy

Thank you for responding.. that means alot.. I am looking forward to trading stories.. You are so lucky that you aunt and mom are going to be with you.. my dad is going to meet me there so i feel a little better just knowing that he will be there. My husband wouldn't even go along with this if i didn't have my dad there. He is such a wonderful man.. Just wish he could be there. Good Luck.. Will be thinking of you Robin

Hi Robin, My date is January 7th and I'm beginning to get the jitters too. I didn't think I would, but I guess everyone has gone through this. It has to be normal. I just keep telling myself it's not me that will be changing, just the way I take care of "me". I am so ready to do this and I can see you are too. Just know there are many of us January "babies" out here to help hold you up. We will need to help hold each other up. I will be thinking about you Monday and I will say a little prayer for you! God bless, Charlene

Hi! Count me in1 I'm scared too!!! I am really getting the preop heebie jeebies and I have to wait until the 19th!! All the insurance BS has me twitchy...am paranoid that they will pull out after the fact because its 2005...(got approved in Dec). All of the "bad experiences" are jumping out at me...all the posts of people who "aren't losing a pound after surgery"....having a lot of "what if I have this and turn into one of those chronic pukers who are always sick and uncomfortable??" Thing that really scares me is the "leak" complications..... Thanks for listening! I am getting to where I feel keyed up and kid of full of adrenalin.... Sher'

Hi Robin, Jill here........ I know how you feel, my date is Jan 17 and I have the jitters also. I think it's because it was such a long process to plan it all and seemed so far away from the time I began this journey. I pray for your husband's safe return home. Wish you all the best on this new journey and will be happy to keep in touch over time to help one another. Look at this as the beginning of a new adventure in your life. I'm sure everything will work out fine. Glad to hear you have some support and help after the surgery. Good luck and a very Happy New Year to you and yours.

Wheeeewwww, so I am not the only one here. everyone seems so confident. I am very scared myself for many different reasons; complications most of all, the mental aspect of it, food has been one of my best friends! I am scheduled for surgery on the 24th of January, and am confused between my nervousness and anxiousness for it to be done and to move on with a better, healthier life. I wil pray for all of you and cant wait to be on the other side too!!! Love to you all, Christi Bixby

Hi Robin, Join the rest of us... Maybe I'll see you there, I'll be at S.Valley on the 5th of Jan... I'm also a Vet. was in the Marines, and Commander of our local VFW Post. We (VFW) have a program going, it's called Operation Uplink. If you know of it great but if you don't it is a program that gets phone cards out to our Vets over seas and in Hospitals. If your husband needs a phone card let your local VFW know had have them put in a request for one, they will need a mailing address. If ANYONE wants to put in a request go to www.operationuplink.org and type in your Vets name and other info to get it to them... and it's free... I'd repeat the request a few times to get there name pushing in there, there is a big demand for them... Good luck on your surgery, if your in the same one as me hope to see you... Prayers are out there for you... PooBear
