Surgeon's office dragging feet

Back on December 7th, I was told my information would be sent for approval. I then requested a copy of the request info being sent. I never received it, so phoned surgeon's office on December 15th. I was then sent a copy of the paperwork. I was given a tentative surgery date of January 10th. I have been calling the insurance company in the meantime attempting to see if they've received/reviewed the request. As of yesterday, the insurance company had no record of receiving a phone call and follow-up fax required. I left a message for the surgeon's nurse advising her of the situation. I have been in contact with her since my visit back on the 7th and unfortunately she hasn't given me any helpful information. From our conversations, it doesn't sound like she's phoned the insurance company as promised. I am getting impatient. I am trying to handle this professionally, but am starting to lose it. Is it realistic to belive that this surgery can happen on the 10th? Any suggestions?

Hello Latasha - That's a trick question and a hard one to answer, because I guess it all depends on: 1) Have you completed all your pre-op testing and follow-ups (if required) If the only thing that is standing in your way is the approval then this is a good thing. I didn't receive a surgery date until I got the approval from the insurance co. Glad that I didn't or I would be stir crazy as well. 2) If you received a copy of the information the surgeon's office submitted, you may want to send it yourself. 3) Stop by the office and express your concerns and find out if they need some help. (nicely of course) Perserverance does sometime payoff. At any rate, let us know how things go. We're rooting for ya! Toni

Thanks for responding. Yes, I have completed all of the required appointments. I have also inquired about sending the information myself, but was told that the surgeon's office needs to call to set up a case then fax info over. I have been very nice and professional considering I was told all this would be done back on December 7th. In the message I left for the nurse I told her to call me if there's anything I can do to get things expedited. I have received no response. I will call insurance company again next week to see if there's anything new. Thanks for the encouragement and advice. Have a safe new year. Please keep me in your prayers.

Latasha, Just want to let you know I was in the same boat that you are~I was told by the Drs office that it had been faxed over to the ins co. For almost two weeks straight I called the ins co and everyone I talked to said "no mam we have no record of that" Well after trying mult. times to get a hold of the lady at the drs office she told me "oh no I have a confirmation #, let me call them" and within 3 days I was approved! So there is hope and you got all your testing done too that's a plus! Good luck and keep us posted! Rhonda
