I know this has been covered somewhere before, but....
My surgeon suggests we bring the following to the hospital: house shoes for walking, a robe, gowns (optional), toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, gum (sugarless), mouthwash, antibacterial soap for showering and hand cream.
As far as after surgery, that depends on each surgeon because each surgeon has his/her own way of introducing food and allowing certain medications.... I would call my surgeon's office with a list of questions and ask so I could go shopping before I go into the hospital....
Hope this helps... Best wishes...
Carolyn
it seems alot of post ops highly recommend chapstick or lip gloss during hospital stay as you may be unable to eat or drink and will be dry. I am a nurse and I always recommend takin a pillow from home just for comfort and to hold against your belly for car ride home. Take an outfit that is loose like a dress so you don't have anything tight on your belly. Also if you don't have a reclincer you can rent one for a couple weeks from the rent to own places, some say its easier to sleep and get up from than a bed. if i think of anything else I'll let you know
Hey Kita,
You'll never guess my name is Kita too. My family calls me Kita. My middle name is LaKitha. What really makes this interesting is my last name begins with T. I to will be having surgery on 01/19/05. My prayers are with you and I hope you have a speedy recovery. I'm glad you asked that question I like to see a sample pre-op shopping list for post-ops too.
