Gosh this is really funny. Because I have the same exact feelings that you have. My surgery is scheduled for the 3 of January in Syracause, NY,. The only thing I can tell you for what its worth is. If you have faith in yourself and your doctor, you will do great. You have to believe in yourself. You know that this is one of the most important things you will ever have to do. But than again you are worth it. Take care and I will say a prayer for you; Kathy Falise.

Reality......... we don't need no stinkin' reality. No seriously Ann, I am also going in on the 6th, and feeling very, very excited. I have complete trust in my doctors and the hospital staff. Just remember why you are doing this and that we are going to be in for the ride of our lives. The hard part for me is this liquid diet that they have me on in preperation for surgery. The docs really want my liver to shrink so that I can have LAP, and it is hard. I tell myself this is what I am going to be eating for a few weeks, but without our "tool" it is very very hard. Just keep in touch with us here and know that we are all in your corner and want you to suceed. Lauren A BIG loser in 8 days 335/332/??? RNY 1/6/05

Hey Lauren, Its ann Slattery, you responded to a message I had left on the board before I had surgery on the 6 of Jan. I wanted to thank you for taking the time to write what you wrote. I hope your surgery went well. My went pretty good no complications but I have been struggling I have been on liquids since the 5 and I am very frustrated. Its not that I feel physical hunger its the mental hunger that makes me insane. After my surgery when I came home on friday I felt ok, but then I wanted to be the I'LL COOK FOR EVERYBODY IN THE HOUSE I still have to cook for my husband and my two boys, so I still have all the crunchy, salty, cheesy, snacks that I have to see all day long. I have been living on suger free jello and protein, crystal ligh****er abd thats about it. The only good thing is that according to my scale I have lost almost 20lbs since the surgery, but I really just want to eat something solid and with flavor. Please let me know how you are doing I am really curious if you are going through the same. Sincerely Ann S

I am on the 4th! I too am a little nervous, not of the surgery itself, just of what comes afterwards and the not knowing. I just started the liquid diet today also and it is weird to think that I will only drink now for 3 weeks! I hope I can do it! Good luck and best wishes to you!!Nicole
