My surgeon wants me to lose as much weight as possible before surgery. He ordered a protein drink (Impact Recovery) and just SF liquids, broth, water, tea.... you know the drill. The problem we ran into is that Impact Recovery is milk based and I am very allergic to milk and dairy products. So then he said to just find a soy or rice based protein shake. I have tried several and they all are so bad, I was gagging and ing from them. Nothing was staying down, even the broth and jello came up. So now I am worried about dehydration and nurishment. I will be calling his office on Tuesday(they are closed for the holiday Monday), but does anyone know of a reasonable tasting non dairy shake I can get for the next 7 days? I am using a fruit flavored protein drink that I really like. It comes in several fruit flavors (I like the strawberry/kiwi and very cherry/berry). It is whey protein based (I am lactose intollerant and cannot drink milk based protein drinks). The manufacturer is SYNTRAX. Each serving has 23 grams of protein and 0 gms of fat and 0 gms of carbs! It's really great. If you cannot find it near you, call my bariatric surgeon, Dr. Kenneth Warnock in Witchita Falls, TX. He has a resource room and they will mail it to you overnight with a credit card. He is listed with ObesityHelp.com. I hope this helps! This is truly the best product I found. Dr. W made me lose 30 pounds before my surgery (I'm scheduled Jan 21st and still have 8 lbs to go) and I have used this product to help). Best Wishes, Carolyn Hubbard

Lauren, I like the atkins protein shakes in a can. Quite good. Vanilla over ice and sprinkle with cinnamon.

Go to gnc and get liquid-clear-protein drinks, they are really good, several kinds. Also, if you can find it, slim fast has a soy based pwdr that mixes with water and is verrrrrry good and chocolately. Good luck-Nicole

I bought Vanilla Flavored Soy Protein Powder from Trader Joe's. It specifically lists low fat, dairy-free, and 0 g carbohydrates. It also has vitamins & minerals (including biotin, which is good for when we start having thinning hair...) If you have a Trader Joes near you check it out - best of all a big 16 oz. can of the powder was only $6.
