How are you preparing for WLS?
Hello WLS friends,
Just wanted to hear how everyone is preparing for the big day. I am walking 30 minutes a day on the treadmill and 3 days of strength training.
I have started to limit food intake-1200 calories a day
(no more eating out) and increase water intake. I am also preparing postop smoothies-the taste is great. DH is enjoying the smoothies also.
I'm having a smoothie before my morning workout.
Smoothie recipe:
2 scoops of ISOPURE orange, pineapple, banana shake mix (GNC store)
1 banana
1/2 cup frozen peaches
12 oz of hood countdown pineapple orange drink (sold at Walmart)
Crystal light, kool-aid made with splenda can be used to make the smoothie. This smoothie taste like drinking liquid orange sherbert. yummy!
One postop patient (135 pounds lost in 1 year) at the gym recommended that anyone that is preop, not to have the last meal of high calorie, high fat, and sweets. Just gradual decrease food intake.
I have also purchased sippie cups and baby spoons to use after the surgery. I will be taking the sippie cups to the hospital.

everything before the big day
Hey Tammy,
I just wanted to commend you on cutting back. I haven't thought about this but I plan to start changing tomorrow. I will begin with counting my calories and keeping journal. Congrats to you and I wish you well with your surgery.

I am mentally preparing myself which is a task in itself
Hillarious.....I am so proud of you for doing this because I am doing the exact opposite!!! I am going hog wild and eating till I'm blue in the face!!!! I know I shouldn't be proud of that but I guess my mentality was that I didn't want to look back and say "I wish I had eaten that before". Granted, since I am having the lap band I won't have AS many restrictions as the bypass does, it's still an unbelievable change from any way that I have ever lived or eaten before.
I have been limiting my soda intake though slowly and upped on the water.
