greetings to the jan. 05 board i've had a much longer journey than most of my fellow jan. 05 members, so i haven't felt like i've had mu*****ommon with you all since we were much earlier out, but i thought i'd share a wow moment i had this weekend. in an amazing move for me, i went shopping on the day after thanksgiving ... something i don't recall ever doing before. but here's the wow part...i'm sitting here typing this post in size 12 pants! who would have ever thought this would be possible!! it was so exciting, i ended up buying 9 pairs of size 12 pants!! i get in a store and just want to buy everything that fits me -- it's so much fun! deb -273

Hi Deb!! Congratulations!!!! You have truly done awesome in your journey!!!! I'm so proud of you!! I had my lap rny on January 10, 2005. I started out at 261 pounds and currently weigh 135 pounds. I would like to lose another 15 pounds but the scale has just not moved. What type of surgery did you have? I'm only 5 feet tall so I don't have much room for expansion, if you know what I mean That is great that you are now in a size 9 pant. Wow!! May I ask how tall you are and how much you currently weigh? I currently wear a size 10-12 depending on the brand. I was really hoping that I would end up in a smaller size. I still need to size up in my pants because of my hips. I've also had a TT on March 6, 2006. I couldn't afford to have the full body lift because I had to pay 100% of the cost. I still have issues where I think I am overweight, but I have also read other posts on the WLS Graduate Message Board that other individuals are also having this problem. I guess some of us will always feel that we have not been completely successful. Have a wonderful holiday season!!!! God Bless you and yours!!! It's so nice to see the January, 2005 group posting. I really miss the support and friendship from the early days. I guess everyone's gone on to different paths at this point of their journey. Please continue to post here. I've tried several times to revive this Message Board without successs. Hugs and aloha, Pat 261/135 - 5 feet tall

hi pat thanks for the post. i stop by this board regularly, but not much is ever going on. i think you're right...everyone's moved on. i started out weighing so much more than most of the other posters here, that i didn't feel the connection with them after the first few months. i moved over to the BMI over 50 board. i think you may have mis-read my post -- i'm not in a size 9, i'm in a 12. i'm 5'10" and started out at 463 lbs. currently i'm down to 190. i had an open rny, for which i was self-pay. i'd really love to reach the normal range on the bmi chart, which means at least 17 more lbs. having lost 273 lbs, i have yards and yards of skin hanging everywhere, but no way to pay for having it removed. the skin is bad, but i knew it was going to happen, and i can live with it. i'm SO much happier even with it, than i was before! i do have a hard time making the adjustment of what i look like now. i definitely don't seem to see the same thing when i look in the mirror that others see when they look at me. people actually have told me i'm too thin...how can someone who weighs 190 lbs possibly be TOO THIN?? i think their perception is skewed because of where i started...and mine is skewed too! anyhow, nice talking with you! glad things are going well for you, and hope you have wonderful holidays! deb

Wow!!!! That is so good. Size 12 has been my goal forever. I am with you that this has been a longer journey for me too. I started at 334 lbs, and I currently weigh 191 lbs. I would like to see 160 lbs. But things have been so slow for me. My surgeon told me some times our bodies just stop, and get stuck where they want to be. I am not giving up. I am shorter than you so a 12 is still a ways for me. I will get there! I am so proud of you! I need to come around more often for some fellow peer inspiration. Margo -143

Deb, Congrats! You've done a wonderful job and your deserve to celebrate!!! I know what you mean about wanting to buy everything that fits! For years, I couldn't find much that fit and/or looked good on, so when I did find something I'd buy several in different colors. That is a hard habit to break but I'm trying now that I have so much more to chose from! Keep up the good work! Vickie J.

Hi Deb, Congrats...I am so jealous! Size 12's!!!! I do have a pair of 13's I can fit into. I understand what you mean about size. I started at 367 and am now in the 180's. And I understand about the excess skin and no $ to pay for its removal. Keep up the great job. Linda
