So, I am five months out and feeling great...I knew that the hair loss was a part of the package (though I had hoped to be one of the lucky ones), but it's really rather scary, as I am sure most of you remember. It has been going steady since about month four...can you guys tell me which month your hair loss stopped, and how long before it started growing back in? I want a realistic END time to this. Congrats on all of your great work! I can't wait to be there next year! Hugs, Beth

Beth I can only answer for myself on this, but my hair loss hasn't stopped. I did have a very rough first ten months in which I couldn't keep any food down and that may explain my problem. My hair loss has slowed down considerably. However, I lost more than 1/4 of my hair and it isn't growing back. I am really thankful that I had a lot of hair to begin with! I think I am the "exception" and not the "rule." Most people have told me that it stops by 8 months. Good luck Dianne

Dianne, thanks so much for the response. I am sorry to hear that you had such a rough time your first year, but I am glad to hear that your hair loss has slowed considerably. Eight months sounds like I could make it through. I too am very lucky with the amount of hair I started out with. Funny that I came to a different board but still got a response from a Cali girl!! See ya on the Cali board! Beth

Hi Beth! My hair loss started at about 4mths out and last until about 9mths out. I still lose some, but nothing like I did back then. It has started to grow back in nicely too. I have naturally curly hair, so at first it started to come in kinda fuzzy, LOL, so I found a new hair do to hide the fuzz! I went for a foil and cut a few weeks ago and my stylist told me I have 2 definitely different lenghts of hair~almost like 2 hair do's, LOL! At least the shorter lenght is underneath so I can hide that too! Good Luck and Congratulations on all of your success! Tracy B 328/152 5'9"

So from these two responses I guess I am hopefully looking at about month 8 or 9 . I think my hair might last until then (by not showing balding spots, I mean). That is really funny about the fuzz. I have absolutely no wave or curl to my hair, and I find it interesting to hear that some people who have straight hair grows it back curly! That would absolutely trip me out! Thanks so much for your response!! And WOW on the weight loss! Beth

Beth, I began losing hair about 3-4 months out and it seemed to slow down about 7-9 months out. However, my hair is slowly growing back. I didn't lose too much but my nutritionist had me begin taking Zinc & Biotin and I think that helps. I still take both since I know I probably still don't get in enough protein. Good luck & hang in there. The excessive loss will slow down soon. And even if it doesnt, to my way of thinking , I'm willing to have thinner hair as long as I get the thinner & healthier body to go along with it!! Vickie J. 277/136.5/138 BELOW goal & loving it!

I know you made this post a while ago but I haven't been on line for a very long time. I wanted to let you know that I still have hair loss ... is less now but still loosing. I have to clean out the brush and the shower drain. I am very faithful with my protein and vitamins. I am thankful that I had a lot of hair to begin with. The plus is you get to try many different hair styles.
