Topic: RE: Lunch Ideas?
I keep cottage cheese, string cheese, turkey pepperoni, chicken, soup, refried beans, salsa and soup at work so I don't have to go out. I also usually have an Atkins RTD shake with me at work for either snack or lunch or when I'm just "starving". I generally eat the same things over and over and though it gets boring, it works for me. Good luck Fanny 01-13-04 Open RNY 297/223/160?

Topic: Lunch Ideas?
Hi All, I'm just over 2 months out and I'm needing ideas for lunch. I work at home, but I don't want to spend a lot of time cooking lunch and since I'm not "out" stopping at Wendy's for chili or something like that is out. Perhaps you would share with me some of your lunch ideas. Gloria

Topic: RE: still low engery
Hi Pat, First off you don't want any advice from me because I'm doing NOTHING right but I still have NO energy. I'm down 54 pounds 279/225 and some days I think I'm finally feeling better and I will crash and burn by the end of the day because I "did too much." Then I feel like crap for the next few days and so on.... I don't have a doctor or a dietician so I just do whatever I can. I am on a regular diet---meaning anything I can keep down, I eat. I don't take vitamins because they make me sick, I don't drink protien shakes or eat bars because they're gross and I haven't started excersising yet because I have no energy. (Big suprise.) I figure if I actually dieted and excersised I could probably lose faster but at this point, I'm just trying to survive. I have 2 babies under 2 and I can barely care for them because I feel so bad. I'm always amazed however that every time I read these posts that everyone seems to have the same problems no matter what the doctor or dietician tells them. I mean I've lost right around the same as everyone else, on average, and you are "behaving" and following the doctor's advice and you're still tired. The people who have had laproscopic surgery of course feel better because their surgery requires less healing time and is less invasive but for the most part, the people who had open RNY's healed at about the same rate regardless of the vast differences in the after care approaches of each surgeon. Doesn't that seem odd to you? Anyway, it probably didn't make you feel any better knowing that I'm still low energy (lower than pre op) and I'm only 38, but I hope you do get some advise that does make you feel better soon. I just pray that you don't suffer from the depression that has overwhelmed me as a result of not being able to perform at my pre WLS level. Everyday I feel as if I am failing my family and that I have ruined my life. I am taking steps to counter these feelings and if you become that frustrated with your progress (or lack thereof) I suggest you seek help as well. I guess there are just some things that we can't do all by ourselves. I've decided there is no shame in asking for help. Good Luck! ~michelle

Hi Krystal, I'm sorry hon that you are feeling icky- I know when I'm that way it's just miserable. Sometimes there is nothing to do for it but give in momentarily, spend a day watching chic clicks, crying or sleeping or doing comfort things (NOT FOOD!) for you. On this day, don't do anything that you don't want to, don't hold stressful discussions or make important decisions. In other words - give yourself a time-out. Kids need them, adults need them. Then - after YOUR day - you'll be much more apt to jump back into life & will be happier again. Just like before wls, we had mood swings - these will continue after wls. We all have good days and bad days too. You are doing great ~ even if it doesn't feel like it 100% of the time. Take care of YOU! Barbie 1-21-04 281/230/150ish

Topic: I FINALLY HIT 50!!!!
I'm so excited! My hard work and efforts have finally paid off! I hit the BIG -50lbs this week! I feel like it's taken forever - but then it has only been since mid-January! NEVER have I done that before! I know that most of you hit it long ago - but I am a slow loser (maybe if I'd hit the gym a few more times a week....) But it feels good! Down from size 26 to size 20! Heading to the consignment shop next week with huge tubs of clothes to sell. Can't wait for the cash to help finance the next drop in size. Just wanted to share! Barbie 1-21-04 281/230/150ish
