Hey there, Kelli - I, too, feel as if I can eat way too much at a time! I talked to my doctor about it, and he said that it's a normal feeling for those of us 3-4 months out. My theory is because we can eat so much more than we could in the first month or two post-op. Heck, I actually feel that I eat as much as anyone else now (of course, comparing plates I know that isn't so!)! It sounds like you're on a plateau - we've all been there. The best way to get off of it is to change what you're doing - eat more, eat less (not for too long), work out more, work out harder, work out less, work out differently. All of those are tricks that I use to get off plateaus. But do keep in mind that you can only do so much - sometimes your body just needs a break for a while. And if that's the case, then think about it as a time for your body to tighten up and get rid of some of those extra inches/skin. That's a good thing! So, good luck to you, and the weight loss will keep on happening. If it helps, weigh your food - that'll let you know exactly what you're eating. Just keep working hard and things will work out - you'll get under 200!!! Frances

Hi, My name is Kathy and I just discovered this board. It's very interesting. My surgery was on 1/20/04. I am 5' and started out at 218 lbs. I am now down to 164 lbs and have lost an average of at least 4 inches from every measurement. That is nearly 4 pant sizes! I'm so excited about the loss and so active now that I think I'm hyperactive. Only 44 pounds to go!!!!!!! The closer I get the more exercise I want to do and the closer I watch my food intake. It's the first time in my life that "dieting" has actually had an effect on me. No regrets here.

Kimberly I know it's difficult to deal with family, but this is about you not about them. We can't save the world, but we can save ourselves. I had the same kind of comments from some of my family members who said "what if there are complications", "What if you die"? and I said "I have new's for you, I am gonna die", we all are, but I'm not going to die from being overweight if I can help it. I have tried every diet known to mankind and this is a last ditch effort to hopefully live some sort of normalcy, and by God I'm going to give it a chance. We owe it to ourselves to be the best we can be and if we choose this route or any other, it's all up to you. God bless you and best wishes for success. Barbara

You can't be happy for someone else......... When you are not happy with yourself! Just be proud of your accomplishments that is what matters! God Bless

Thanks Guys I appreciate the support. I dont kno wether or not I am more scared I am eating way to much. If I dont sit down and try to eat a meal I will pick all day and not be full where as a meal makes me full so I know where the problem is. I also am starting to eat more carbs and I think that has alot to do with it as well. I know that we get 100's of post thinking we have stopped losing and hitting a stalling point and it may get old but I really think it s legitimate fear we all have. I see alot people that have had this surgery and gained weight back or need a revision and I get scared going oh No I hope that does not happen to me. Thanks for letting me just vent

I totally agree about the slower we lose the better off we are. I have been a bit slower than some with weight loss, but my surgeon was happy with my progress. I figure he is the best judge of my specific situation and if hes happy then i need to be happy too. Sure we would all like to lose 100 pounds in 3 months, who wouldnt. Also, I am sure I can eat too much sometimes. I have felt like OMG have I restretched my tummy? Why havent I lost more? as well as a myriad of other negative questions, but then I kick myself in the pants and remind myself of how much bettter I feel, how I can walk places and do things without getting winded, how my clothes dont fit anymore....so many good things and more to come. Weve come a long way baby......and the best is yet to come!!!! Hugs, Harriet 304/214/???

Kelli you are doing GREAT!!! You just hit that ever popular plateau unfortunately! 60 lbs is GREAT!!! I had my surgery weeks before you and started out at 300 lbs and i JUST hit the 50 lbs mark, so believe me you are doing WONDERFUL! I hit plateaus all the time then oneday I will wake up and have dropped 2 lbs and you will do the same. Don't get discouraged!! Believe me I get down every now and then when I read others post(like yours) saying they have lost 60 plus lbs and had their surgery wayyyy after i did and started out smaller.. but I know we are all different and this isnt a race. The slower it comes off the better off you are in the long run! Hugs and keep that chin up!! Tracy 304/254/healthy
