Topic: Just saying hi!
Hey January Jumpers!
Just wanted to write and say that things are going so well! I'm so happy with my success; reading each of your successes each day pushes me to explore the new me! Thank you to each of you for your inspiration!
I took a new kickboxing class tonight at the gym. I was able to make it through the whole class. I've done it long ago - but certainly not recently! She kicked our butts, so I'm sure I will be sore tomorrow - but it was a break from walking or the bike.
A group of my family and friends are going tubing this holiday weekend. I am looking forward to fitting in the tube MUCH better than back in September! I've invited a guy that I have been spending a bit of time with and think is great to join us and he said yes! Pray for safety & a good time - I'm very interested in him!
Take care all and have a safe and happy Memorial Day!!!

Topic: RE: Anyone else on plateau
I wasn't on a plateau but I had some strange things going on with my weight last month. I'd lose -0-, the next week -1, the next week -5 lb loss, next week -0-. Overall I think I lost 6 lbs for the month. I'm hoping that was just a semi-plateau and the weight loss will pick up again this month.
Too bad we don't have a crystal ball to see ourselves in 12-18 months all slim and trim (with flabby skin). Then we could quit worrying about losing weight and start worrying about saving money for plastic surgery. I'm so optimistic....not.
How many carbs are you eating a day? If you haven't been watching them maybe you could cut below 20 grams of carbs a day and break the plateau? I am always preaching carbs because they have such a bad effect on my body. I feel like a different person when I stay under 20. You are young enough that they probably don't bother you.
Hope you kick that plateau soon!
Topic: RE: How Everyone Going?
We are twins, I had surgery on 1/20/04 also. I only weigh once a week, last Sunday I had lost 64 lbs post op plus the 58 pre-op for a total of 122 lbs. I'd still like to lose another 100 lbs but I don't know if it's going to happen at the rage I've been losing.
The weight is a minor consideration compared to how I feel. If anybody had told "couch potato" me prior to wls that I'd ever be exercising in the gym every day for 30-45 minutes I'd have given them a disgusted look. Disgusted with myself mostly, because I didn't figure I'd ever be able to do it again. I am working in my yards again and loving it, my closets are getting cleaned out one by one. You get the picture I am feeling great and kicking my heels up every chance I get. Life is great
Food has not been a problem for me (haven't tried sweets). I make healthy choices with few exceptions. I decided going in I didn't have to be perfect, but my metabolism is slow so the only way I am going to post a decent weight loss is to cut the carbs and stay completely away from sugar. The up side of not being a fast loser is that I am eating healthier than I've ever eaten in my life. Hopefully that will pay off once I've lost my weight, because I will be in the habit of eating healthy.
Glad to hear all you fellow wls gals are doing so great after your surgery.
Keep up the good work.
Topic: RE: ARE YOU EXERCISING AT ALL?????
Before I started dieting four months prior to surgery I could hardly walk 2 minutes without thinking my legs were going to give out under the weight.
My exercise routine now is the dreaded treadmill Mon-Wed-Fri for 30 minutes while reading my book which makes it tolerable. Tues-Thur I do weights for 30-40 minutes. Weights have always been my favorite thing to do in the gym. There is always a way to keep increasing repetitions or amount of weight. This week I started using the cross country machine, but it kicked my butt in 2 minutes flat so that is a new challenge.
Do I love exercise? No way but I love the way it makes me feel the rest of the day. Physically & mentally it is a positive thing for me.
Best of luck to you.

Topic: RE: ARE YOU EXERCISING AT ALL?????
exercise was never a word in my vocabulary but it is one i have finally learned!
besides walking 2 miles a day i am part of a strength training class 2 days per week (1 hour each session) and a water aerobic class 2 days per week (1 hour per session). it sure has improved my attitude! if i miss class or my walk - i just do not feel as good!
as far as adding something to your program...as long as you are maintaining and doing well-stick with something you will do! since you hate gyms i would not even attempt it. maybe add some weights (arm and/or leg)...any exercise is better than no exercise!!
congrats to us all for sticking to it - whatever the exercise program is! we are great and wonderful people!
to us!!
