Topic: RE: Raisens, Grapes, Popcorn, Coconut, Corn
My surgeon never told me anything about that stuff.. but then I didn't go to the support group meetings.. must have been at one of those.
I eat grapes on occassion, popcorn too.. no problems.. but I guess eveyone is different. I still don't eat corn.. Anything I'm scared of I run through the "chopper" which would work for raisins.. not grapes or popcorn
Good luck, Jan

Ooh, you've given me hope! I do miss grapes -- I get them for my kids and hubby but have been paranoid to have some myself. I guess the only way I'll find out is to give it a try!
And I agree with you -- my surgeon(s) (there are two at the practice) warn that we may never be able to have "skin" foods again -- tomatoes, grapes, corn, peas, etc., but it's because others have had problems with them. They're not forbidden but we are told that they can cause blockages and to try them at our own risk!

I've had popcorn and eat grapes all the time.
I know all surgeons are SO different with their "rules" so if yours says no to those things, I guess he has his reasons.
I think they just go on what past patients have had problems with, atleast that's what I am thinking

Topic: RE: Scars itching!!!
Hey Michele...
Mine itches quite a bit too!! AND.. It's keloid and RED!! UGLY
My dermatologist suggested Mederma and even gave me samples/coupons for it and I mentioned to him that i've been using cocoa butter and he said that was a good choice because it keeps it moisturized.
I am seeing him again on the 7th and am going to question him about it once more, if I hear of anything good to use on it I'll let ya know!!
Another itching monkey hehe!

Topic: RE: PAIN IN THE BUTT
Hey hun!
It's moving SOME but not as fast as everyone else of course.
It seems like I get stuck for about a week to 2 weeks and then it moves again.
55 lbs so far though and I am learning to not get so discouraged when I read about others losing much more than I.
I figured I won't have as much excess skin and I've also heard that the slower you lose the better chances you have for keeping it off in the long run. Healthier too!!
We will get there! Hope you're doing well!! Keep me updated!
Hugs,
Tracy

Hey Tracy! How are you doing? Is your scale still crawling? Mine is definitely still taking its sweet time.
(I used to be "Had$" but family members starting searching for me online so I changed it -- argh!)

Topic: RE: PAIN IN THE BUTT
I feel it!
I've noticed it when sitting at the computer and even in the car, but where I've noticed it most is sitting on the side of the bathtub waiting for one of my kids to finish up on the potty (they're still so young that they need some help from mommy -- I'll explain no further!). Ouch!

Topic: RE: Raisens, Grapes, Popcorn, Coconut, Corn
I've had popcorn a couple of times with absolutely no problem (not even a "twinge") and have had a little bit of corn that has slipped through when I didn't catch it to pick it out of a casserole or something -- no problem there either (although I still can't bring myself to try an actual spoonful). I also can't bring myself to try raisins or grapes; haven't heard any warnings about coconut!

Topic: Raisens, Grapes, Popcorn, Coconut, Corn
Can we have raisens?
My surgeon said no to raisens, grapes, popcorn, coconut and corn.

Topic: RE: ARE YOU EXERCISING AT ALL?????
Hi! I have been exercising. I go to the gym 5-6 days per week. I vary my routine so it doesn't get too boring. I'll switch up between the eliptical, treadmill and exercise bike. I usually do at least 30-40 minutes on the machines.
Today I did a total of 20 miles between all three machines! I spent most of the time on the bike, but also did some on the eliptical and treadmill. I'm pooped, but PUMPED...can't tell you the last time I would have been able to do this!
