Kathleen It sounds like you are doing great! 3 to 4 lbs a weeks is Wonderful! I WISH I lost that much. I think I only lost like 9 pounds last month! My surgeon says to try to get 800 to 1200 calories a day. If you cut your calories too low, you're metabolism will get all wacked out and you won't lose as much. Oh---and I"M SURE you can tell a weight loss! Post a picture and we'll all be your judge! OK?! You're doing great! Keep it up! I've lost about half of mine! My once long hair has now been cut off short so that I don't have to bru**** so much to get the tangles out of it. So what's the next resort? Rogaine? My Vit B-12 level got really low so I think that made my hair loss even worse???? I am going to try not to color my hair at all for a while either until the hair loss improves dramatically. And I am one for coloring my hair every couple of months so this is going to be tough for me! Guess this is the price we pay to be thin! Charlotte

I'm freaking out too. I have thick hair, but for the last 2 weeks I have been cleaning hair out of my sink and brush that could literally have made another wig! I am worried as I notice that most of it is from the top of my head. Around my forehead. My hubby mentioned he could tell I was loosing it. It seems I have a receding hairline! I AM FREAKING!!! What do we do??? I have always had more than my 60 oz of protein per day, so I really don't feel upping the protein is going to help. There has been alot of info on the main board about flax seeds. I might try this. It is really scarey to think you might go bald. Kim R/az 233/177/130

Topic: How is everyone else doing with their wls?
Hi, My surgery was 1/6/04. I am doing great I think, down 102.5# as of this am, no longer wearing clothes that have an X in them! Losing just a little hair, but not worried about it! No more prescription meds needed - yeah! Go to the Y RELIGOUSLY for 2-3 hours at least 5x a week, love the Pilates class I am taking - the instructors are awesome and as I am losing I can see improvement weekly in movement and strength. Everyone at work is so supportive and complimentary. I even went to a tanning bed for the first time ever and did not worry about the weight limit for the beds! That is priceless!

Hi! Finally checked out the message board!!! and after reading it for a few days I decided to post. I had surgery on jan 8th and it has now been 5 months. I was just feeling a little weird, you know you hear of all the super losers at 6months yada yada and was just wondering how everyone else was doing. I have lost 90 pounds (still can't notice it though....the whole mind game thing!) went from 322 to 232. Lately have only been losing 3-4 pounds a week and my surgeon is dissapointed because he wants me to lose 5/week. he told me to eat less!!!! I work out with a trainer 3 times a week, do yoga, ball work and walk on the off days, but I don't know how I can eat less!!!!! I find when I do, the weight slows down!!!!! I followed his advice but only lost 1 pound each week for a couple of weeks. I was just wondering what everyone can eat. I am a vegetarian and try to get in 3 protein shakes a day, but my lunch is mine and my snacks (mostly cheese sticks or almonds etc.) however.... I can eat a piece of pizza or a few fries and I do. is that crazy? or am I just a little obsessive?!? any help would be appreciated! thank you! Kathleen ?????? -someone please explain the 3 number thing.... should it be: 322/232/160ish?!?

Don't feel like you are alone. In reading, it appears we will lose hair between months 4 and 8. If I keep losing I'll be bald headed. My hair was fine and a bit thin before surgery so I don't have a lot to lose without it being VERY obvious. My surgeon told me he has never had a patient go bald. Mine was falling out in hand fulls for a while but it has slowed down a lot so I am hoping the worst is over. There is always a wig and I'm willing to do that if it gets bad enough. They say it will come back so we just have to have faith. Best of luck to everybody.

Topic: RE: I AM GETTING FUSTRATED!!!!
Hi Kelli, I would love to have lost over 70 lbs by now. I just went to my surgeon yesterday (I'm almost 4 1/2 months out) and he was happy with my 55 lbs loss since surgery. I thought it was too low. I go to curves 4-5 days a week and do alot of other exercise on the weekend. I drink my protein shakes (75 to 90 grams a day)and take my vitamins and get at least 50 to 70 ounces of additional liquid (mostly water or low calorie and no carbonated drinks) besides my protein shakes, but my loss is still slow. I've tried eating fewer carbs and just getting my protein with regular foods. Nothing seems to change. My body is loosing at it's own rate and that is that. I've also hits several plateau's where I've lost nothing for a week to 10 days. So, you're not alone. I wish you continued success. Barbara

I started loosing hair about a month ago and I haven't slowed down yet. I'm acting like it doesn't bother me, but it's creepy to clean so much hair from the brush or shower drain. My question is will it grow again? When? WLS does weird things to your body. Wouldn't take it back for a million, but we need to admit that it's a strange experience. Catherine
