Topic: Vitimins for Hair Loss
I was told to take 4 vitimins to help prevent the hair loss. I have hair that is very thick and down past my butt. I have taken them since the first month and now I am 5 months post op and have lost no hair. They are: CQ10 - Flax Seed Oil - Primrose Oil - Biotin

Hey Connie, we share the same date!! I have lost 52 pounds since surgery to go with the 31 I lost in the couple of months before it. I think you are doing great. I hear you about the increased hunger and eating though. It seems like I grazed all last weekend, but then lost 2 pounds after staying the same for the past few weeks. Go figure.

Hi Connie, I too think you are doing marvelous! Don't sweat the numbers! Everyone puts on and takes off differently, but I do understand how frustrating it is. I also worry about stretching the pouch, and worry that I might be one of the ones who 'out eat' the surgery. In my conversations with dieticians, they all stress that the 2 big things to prevent this from happening are #1 NO CARBONATED drinks AT ALL for at least 1 year. New research is saying no carbonated drinks ever again, the carbonation will stretch the pouch even after a year. #2 NO DRINKING LIQUIDS WITHIN 40 MIN before or after eating. I personally find this a little difficult, especially if I have something dry, like chicken or overcooked meat that is dry. I am not sure of a solution for this. You can't always have meat in a sauce, I mean after all grilled chicken is grilled and tends to be dry, especially white meat. I have been having a little more problem here lately with "head hunger". I did not have any at first, and now I seem to want to snack more even though I am not hungry. Odd how things change as we go through this journey, isn't it? Keep up the good work. Sarah

Hi Deb, Sounds like you are doing so very well with your WLS! It is natural for the loss to slow down, but it is hard when you don't see the scales moving down! I am also having people telling me tell me I am getting too thin (not so) and I think it is just that they are comparing the present you to the old you, but if they compared you to someone else with 'normal' weight/size they would know that there is still more to go! I have stopped arguing with people, as they just don't believe me when I tell them I am still 50# overweight and considered obese. So, like you, I thank them and tell them I can use all the support I can get! If they push the issue and ask if I want to lose anymore, I just tell them that my physician and my goal is to have a BMI of 25 (normal weight) and that I have a little ways to go yet, and just keep it vague. I just had a friend give me an old pair of her jeans that were 14's and they fit! Shocked me! My medium scrub tops and large scrub pants are too big. I have been shopping a lot at a consignment shop where I can get stuff for just a few dollars while I am still changing sizes so often. It sure beats buying stuff for full price and only being able to wear it a few times! Keep on being a good loser! Sarah

Connie you are doing great. Don't rush yourself. I am actually melting the same as you -78 since 1/8. Have been on a little plateau, but I have not given up. You will do great just give your body time to catch up. Best wishes Dawn
