Hello Barbie,
I know all to well what you mean. I have a younger sister who has ALWAYS been thinner than me. Although for her sake, I do have to admit that she has NEVER teased me for being larger than her. BUT...when I had this surgery, I chose NOT to tell her about this, as matter of fact I haven't even been speaking to her since she decided not to attend my only daughters wedding a year and a hal*****he reason she didn't attend was due to the fact that she has put on a great deal of weight and she didn't want everyone at the wedding to see her the way she was. The bad thing was, she blamed ME for her not attending. (long story)
Anyway, someone opened their mouth, and she now knows that I had this surgery done. She had the nerve to say..."Its not fair that I have to loose the weight the hard way"
When I found out what she said I nearly freaked out.....I got the easy way out????? I'm nearly 40 years old and have been dealing with weight issues all my life. I personally never said anything to her about it, but my other sister who also deals with a weight problem filled her in on her ignorance.
Anyway Barbie......WHOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOO!!! I know that had to be an awesome feeling!
I also think its awesome how you could keep your self-control and not gloat at her expense.
Topic: RE: Daggone plateau!!
WOW What great advice!! I get those plateaus too & i exercise 5x a week. Its scary to try to "up" the calories, but what you said makes it all worth it! I'll give your advice a try.! Thanks, Cynthia Polish 1/13/04 73lbs
Topic: RE: Does any one else get this feeling?
Hi Everyone,
I was just saying the same thing this weekend. I am 5 months post-op as of June 19th and I am down 97 pounds. I am so happy and feel great and everyone around me comments on how great I look, although I still have plenty more to go. Anyway I feel the same way sometimes I look in the mirror and can't see much of a difference. I am sure it will come in time. Congrats to us all wqe are all doing great!!
Topic: RE: HOW MANY CALORIES A DAY SHOULD WE BE CONSUMING AT THIS STAGE OF THE GAME?
Teri,
I track consistently on Fitday and it shows I eat anywhere from 800-900 calories per day. My weight loss is slow but consistent. 2-3 lbs a week and I haven't, (knock on wood) had any plateaus. Good luck!

I do understand how that would feel. Of course my sisters were both heavy so we never really got to pick on eachother about it. Now my oldest has lost almost 130 lbs (she had a RNY also) And my other sister lost weight using atkins. So we are all small now. Or at least smaller than we were. But we certainly pick on eachother about certain attributes. That is so awesome for you! i know I have seen people I went to school with and they don't recognize me. It's a great feeling! Keep up the good work!!!!!
