Topic: How much is exercise helping???
Hi everyone! I am 5 months post-op, and I've lost 74 pounds. I started at 250 at 5ft 3inches, and by my surgeons charts I'm ahead of schedule....they predict I'll get to about 150 (100 lb. loss) but I think I'd like to lose 120, putting me at 130 pounds. ANYWAY! I have a new addiction since April....ROLLERBLADING! I know, it sounds ridiculous, and I can't actually believe I'm typing that I think I'm addicted, but it's true! I go anywhere from 10 to 15 miles approx. 5-7 days a week. I JUST LOVE IT! I feel so much better, and I KNOW that the most important thing is that I am getting a fantastic cardiac workout and making the most of this gift I've been given. BUt as I suppose is human nature, I'm feeling a little jipped! I have been doing all this exercise, and was assuming that the weight would start dropping faster - nope. About the same - in fact, with a new plateau. However, I am still losing inches, and I feel more fit than I have in years (obviously!!). So, I'm trying to keep it all in perspective, but it's hard! I am also doing some intensive weight toning/training. I have hired a personal trainer at my gym to help with this, and she is kicking my butt! Anyway, I just wondered if anyone else is in this boat! Keep up the good work, everyone! Jen

my stomach is always rumbling..... Gas X does help me though. It is not painful, just annoying.

Topic: RE: I'm down 78. How much have you lost?
Hi, all! I haven't been on this board in awhile, and it's good to be back! I had my RNY on 1/19 and I'm down 74 pounds.....I'm always curious to see what everyone is starting out at, and how much they've lost. I think it depends on how much you need to lose to get to goal and what weight you are starting at -- everyone agree? I started at 250 at 5ft 3inches....so I feel like I'm just about on track. By my surgeon's standpoint, I'm quite a bit ahead of schedule. By mine (my, my, my we get SOOO greedy, don't we!!?!?!?) I wi**** were going faster! NOw, my next thought: I'd like to know how much everyone is exercising in relation to their weight loss. I have found my new addiction -- ROLLERBLADING! I am doing -- and I'm not exaggerating for shock value, I swear! -- about 10 to 15 miles 5-7 days a week. NOw, I thought that would be helping the loss, but in the last 2 months that I've been doing that, it has stayed pretty consistent. I think I'm toning and losing inches, but not losing any faster. And I know, I know...the most important thing is that I KNOW my heart is so much healthier -- and the results of feeling so much better are worth it ALL. I think I'll post a little something about exercise to see some resonses, too! Good luck everyone! and here's to OUR HEALTHY BODIES!!!!! ;0) Jen

I was just wondering if any one else is having a problem with excess gas. and what they did for it. It is really becoming a very big embarrising problem. I have tried Gas X and it does nothing.

I have notice it too. It was weird having them stare at me. Not that I'm looking... I'm married with 2 kids. It feels good for the ego though....LOL About the prego question. I have a friend who has a healthy baby girl after surgery... she had her when she was not even 1 and half out. She is doing well and only gained about 15 lbs during her preg... lucky her. Hope this helps. Keep up the good work you look great... Linda 238/177/goal 120 i wish

Topic: RE: Thyroid Question?
I have had to deal with my thyroid condition for the past 8 years or so also. This surgery will never correct my condition, but the weight is coming off just as normal as anyone else. René
