after all this time i just found the message boards but I will give you my experiences, I had surgery jan 12 2004 as of right now ive lost a total of 135lbs. I have had no complications and everything is great. example for foods breakfast i usually have a piece of lowfat cheese on wheat toast or sometimes cheerio cereal in skim milk then mid morning i do a protein shake. Lunch i do things like tuna, soup, weigh****cher meals, a baked potatoe just swapping up different things. dinner i try to have chicken or turkey with some veggies. Exercise i ride a bicycle 3 nights a week around 5 or 6 miles then the other nights i lift weights so far everything is great so im sticking to it matt

I think it is wonderful that you found something that you like to do. Regarding the exercises, well we should do it not just to lose weight but also to be more energetic, firm, etc. I think you are doing great keep up the good work. OK, Not to sound stupid or anything,.....what is the difference between roller skating and roller blading???? I roller skated as a kid, but I've never roller bladed. I know exercise is better for us, builds lean muscle mass which in turn hypes up our metabolism, helps out the heart, circulatory and respiratory system too. I started Pilates a month out of surgery (with surgeon's approval) and have been going 2X/week, and it is amazing the things I can do now that I couldn't do then! The instructors and other regular classmates are all so very encouraging! I have now added weighted workout and treadmill, and ex about 10-12 hours a week. Last night on my way into the Y, the guy at the desk looked at me kinda funny and said, "ok, I have been wanting to ask you and I apologize if I offend you, BUT how much weight have you lost since you started coming here?" It was great to see his jaw drop when I told him 103# and I was glad he asked! I felt so high and positive that I whipped through the treadmill without even thinking hard! 40 min at 9% incline at 3.7 mph! The time just flew by cause I was thinking about what he said. Of course it did not hurt that he was cute too!!! But he is baby (I am 48), but maybe someone else more, shall we say, mature, will notice soon???? I might have to post at a later time and ask for some dating tips!!!!! Sarah

Topic: RE: Clothing Sale
How did the clothing sale go? I have taken all my stuff to a local consignment shop and they take care of tagging, selling etc. They get 50% and I get 50%. Also, they have a lot of uniforms that they take in, so I have been able to replace my uniforms which is what I wear 90% of the time very reasonably! I am also told that Goodwill carries uniforms, but you have to dig through what they have, and I don't have the time for that. So as far as I am concerned nothing beats the consignment shops for sizes I know I won't be in for long! Not to tantilize you but it was 69 degrees here this am (Huntington WV) and a drop dead gorgeous day with almost no humidity today! I used to live in Boca Raton, Fl and well remember the relentless heat. I don't miss it a bit! Sarah

I suggest you talk with your MD and get labs drawn. This can either be your surgeon or your primary care Doc. You may be low in your electrolytes, protein, anemic, etc. Are you getting at least 60 gm of protein in a day? 64 oz of water? What prescriptions are you on? Do you take any BP meds, they may need to be adjusted. Get a physical and your labs done, then you and your Doc can be in a better position to judge what you need, be it change in meds, B12, or whatever. Good luck! Sarah

Topic: RE: Male RNY Information?
Hello Alberto. I has surgery on Jan 29 of this year, and as of Friday, June 18, I had lost 150, offically with the doctor. At home, I have lost 156 pounds. I started out at 502 pounds. I try to make sure to get as much protein in every day as I can. I have FF yogurt for breakfast. Either tuna, imatiation krab, chicken, turkey or pork salad, made with Miracle Whip, some soup, cottage cheese, and 6-10 crackers for lunch, and have much smaller portions of what has been cooked for dinner at home. I try to work out at the gym 3 times a week. If you have questions or want to keep each other on track you can contact me at [email protected]. Congrats on being a loser!!!!!!!! Dan
