Started the journey 9/01/03 410 lbs Surgery day 1/20/04 352 lbs (58 Lbs) Yesterday 6/27/04 276 lbs (134 Lbs) I expected the weight loss to be a lot faster but I'm learning patience. I am doing all I can do by sticking to my food plan, eating healthy foods only, working out in the gym 5 days a weeks (cardio 3 days, weights 2 days), drinking my water, etc. We have all done a fantastic job and all we have to do is keep on doing the same. One day thoses scales will show the magic number we are expecting. We have been given a wonderful tool to help us make this work so hang in there. Best of luck to all you guys.

Topic: RE: How much is exercise helping???
Sounds to me like you might be turning fat into muscle which is a good thing. A pound of fat takes up a lot more space than a pound of muscle even though they both weigh a pound. You will look thinner when your journey ends because you will have a lot of lean muscle mass. I have lost 75 lbs in five months but I started out a hundred pounds heavier than you. I am building a lot of muscle with intense workouts in the gym 5 days a week. The best thing about exercise is how you feel the rest of the day. We can't control how fast we lose the weight. All we can do is follow our food, exercise, water plan and allow our tool to work. Darn it. I get discouraged at the slow weight loss sometimes, then I think back to how I felt a few short months ago compared to today. Suddenly I become very encouraged because I know I've been given my life back. Best of luck to you!

Hey, Barbie I'm headed to Florida tomorrow and will arrive in Orlando on Friday. Isn't Gainesvill about 2 hours from Orlando? I'll be in Panama City around July 11 or 12, are you any where near there? Maybe we could hook up if you're near either of those two places? Kimberley 248/236/160.5/135 By August I hope!

Hi all My surgery was Jan 12 2004 I had open RNY, As of last week my total loss is now 135lbs. No complications and i feel great. everyone just keep up the good work. Hey Alberto dont worry about your loss thats great, one reason you havent lost as much is because you didnt have as much to loose, in general a male will lose 10% of his total weight the first month which for you was 25 -30 lbs right? Just keep up the good work and youll get there. Im 6-4 and my starting weight was 430 im now at 295 thats not bad for just under 6 months patting myself on the back lol have a great day Matt

Hi Connie, I totally agree with Barbie! We all have thought we were stretching out our pouch! I think we worry so much, because none of us want to go back to the way we were! Since I have really been paying attention to my calories, I do find that there are certain foods that I can eat more of than others. There are also days when I can eat more than others! Don't worry! As long as you are eating the correct foods and not trying to cheat you're going to be just fine! Take care, Kasey
