Topic: RE: Water does a body good!
Hey Stacy. Congrats on the weight loss!!!! I am not exactly sure what you mean about the significant other acting different but I know my husband sure is ignoring me and I hate it. You would think that since I look better and feel better he would pay more attention to me. Go figure, some men are just weird. I just don't get it! You are doing great! Leanne

Topic: RE: sure.....but worried
In regards to your blood sugar, avoid the refined sugars (like sugar, white bread, cakes, etc) they give a quick but not sustaining sugar rush and increase insulin resistance and cause rebounding problems. The complex carbohydrates are better (multi grain breads for instance) for gradually raising BS (helps with the shakes) and sustaining it. Do you have anyone you can talk with about your feelings about your marriage and friends? Therapist, counselor, friend, priest??? It is natural to sense some changes in your relationships, but it doesn't mean things are bad or were fake before or whatever. Just as your body has been changing, so does your mental makeup and that affects other people perceptions too. Seek professional help if this is a real issue or concern for you. Good luck figuring things out!!! SArah

Topic: Great MD visit and new activities
Hi everyone! I had my 6 month f/up with my surgeon, even though I am closer to 7 months post op, and like everyone else, seem to be doing well, although the loss is slowing down, and of course we are never ready for it to slow down! I am down 120.5# from day before surgery, from 296 to 175.5 - if I place my foot exactly right on the scale!!!!! Now this is the best part, I WEN****ER SKING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 30 YEARS THIS PAST W/END!!!!!!! I was so thrilled and happy and told everyone at work, at the Y, all my friends.... What a great feeling to be able to do something I have been unable to do for years and it feel so good and have so much fun. My brother took photos and gave me a CD, anyone know what I do now to get them on this site??????? My technique is not the greatest, and I am obviously rustly as I have not been able to do this for years, but I want to be able to post the pix! I am also going to try to dig up one of those 'hideous old me' pix for comparing! Any tips would be appreciated! I want to send an 8X10 glossy photo to my surgeon's office with a post-it saying "thanks to you, look what I did this last w/end!" Every day I am so amazed at what else I can now do and how much easier and better EVERYTHING is! Sarah

Topic: RE: completly ashamed...!
Betty, 90# down is FANTASTIC!!!!!!! NOTHING AT ALL TO BE ASHAMED OF!!!! How many comments do you get from friends, family, co-workers everyday! Let them know how much you appreciate the comments. A lot of people at work at first did not want to say anything to me, afraid of hurting my feelings I guess, but I told everyone how motivating it is for me to hear the comments, and they are pouring in almost every day and every hour!!!!!!! One girl in my Pilates class calls me 'skinny minny' now, the instructor keeps making comments about how changed I am from when I first started going to the class, even the guy behind the counter at the Y asked me how much weight I had lost! To MY eyes, your friend's scale is inaccurate for you and needs to be thrown against the wall!!!!!! Your clothes, friends and family all tell you something different than one stupid scale! Ignore it, keep up the ex and don't give up! Sarah

Topic: RE: Chewable Vitamins -
I take a generic brand (either at CVS or Sams depending on where I am when I need to buy them), 2 chewables a day, the vitamins compare to chewable Flinstones complete (different than plain Flinstones), and not expensive. Less than $10 for 150 tablets which last over 2 months. No problem with lab work, etc, down 120.5# so far at 40 weeks post surgery. Good luck Sarah

Topic: RE: Hair Loss/Nioxin
I have not noticed too much hair loss but did notice slow regrowth, tried the Nioxin about 2 months ago and it has helped, although I don't like the way it leaves my hair feeling. Also, (this may be way too info for some) it has helped 'down there', I am a lot bushier and thicker than I used to be! LOL This too will pass. Sarah

Topic: Water does a body good!
I had been stuck for soooo long at 148 I had almost resigned myself to the fact that's where I was going to stop. Not that I couldn't be happy with that but I know for me that once I started losing wgt I just want to lose more. So I decided I needed to up my water intake. I hate water and am adicted to code red mountain dew. Bad I know, but I can't help it. So last thursday I started drinking what to me was mega doses of Rasberry Ice crystal light. Anyway since thursday I have lost 7 lbs...I am down to 141 and couldn't be happier. Of course I want to get to my personal goal of 120, but my PCP says I should shoot for 130. I am short and 125 is my ideal weight so I am still in my own mind shooting for 120. I guess we will see. Only 21 more pounds to go. I have lost almost 80lbs now and it is an awesome feeling. And another thing I was wondering...Has anyone else noticed their signifigant other acting different related to the wgt loss or are having problems because of it? I know I am! Well I just wanted to share. Also Since I have started curves I have gone from a 43 inch waist to a 29 inch waist and my BMI has gone from 47 (when I started) down to 25.7. Keep up the great work everyone! Stacy 220/141/120

Topic: RE: inches question
Hi Kelli, I think you and I are similar on the inches, I posted mine on my profile so you can compare if you wish. I know I was about 36" or so at 6 mo. I'm still bouncing between 204 and 202, I'm starting to feel like a ball! But I have been fighting this plateau for 5 weeks now, and I have given up on the scale for awhile. But if I'd drink my water like I should I would probably be over it by now! Catherine 275/202/150ish 1/22/04
