Sunday the 29th will be 2 years for me. Absolutely no problems here. I have lost 97 lbs.....3 pound away from my goal and I can actually see me finally reaching it. Old habit are trying to come back but at least I am aware of them now. I have maintained my loss for a year now. All is well.

Pouches are from .5 to 6 oz so at 2 oz. yours would be somewhere in the middle.

I am very happy to read your post. I am doing ok. I have lost 160 pounds but I am still battling eating disorders but hey I am grateful for all the weight I have lost. I am eating pretty much everything but try to stay away from Carbs and sweets because they are very hard for me to digest. I hope you keep on with the good work and wish you the best.

Hi Celi, I am two years out this January 29th......I started at 321 and am now 180-186. I think this may be it unless I get myself more motivated to step up to a more agressive exercise program or cut the carbs.....some things I may need to change. Other than that, I am very happy to have had this surgery. I could have never lost this 120 something pounds on my own. I am worried about the future, though. Seems many bariatrics develop problems 3 to 10 years out. Some are minor problems, others are major. But I live every moment for now and I am not looking for trouble. I keep pretty much on the straight and narrow with protein first and I still drink one to two shakes a day for added protein supplementation. I get my blood levels checked twice yearly and have had good results. So, from my mouth to God's ears, let us all be well and continue on our journeys without complications....
Regards, Midge

Topic: Food choice?
Ok here goes, I know curiosity killed the cat but I want to know
My friend *****cently had RNY just like me, say's yuck at some of the stuff I eat,
so I want to know what people think... I don't eat it all the time but at least three times a week I eat stewed Tripe, or sautéed calf's liver with onions, or stewed Pigs feet flavored with pumpkin (I don't eat the Pumpkin) or chicken necks with chicken hearts, lox with cream cheese, veal parmesan and as a treat I love blood pudding, now like I said this is not all I eat, but it is a part of my diet.. I know some of these are high in protein. Is there anyone out there who eats these types of foods??
And what do you think?
Topic: RE: Panneculectomy
Hi Nancy -
I had my RNY Jan 2004 and my panneculectomy on Jan 14th so we are on the same time table! Even our incisions sound the same! I am having a little bit of trouble with one of the spots where the drain came out though. It has to be packed every day; first by home health care nurses and now by family. I went back to work the first day on the 13th. I was tired at the end of the day but it went okay for the most part. My job is mostly sitting at my desk and my co-workers tried to make sure I stayed there! Good luck and heal well!

Hi Kimberly..to answer your question yes the pouch can stretch but you just need to get back to basics. Measure what you are eating to remind yourself of portion control. As for the few pounds you have gained, perhaps your body is just settling into a better weight for you. We get so caught up in the number on the scale and our head feels and sees fat but our bodies are far from it. You also said you are training. Remember muscle weighs more than fat so you may just be adding more muscle. Also for marathins the nutritional needs as far as I know tend to be more carbs and yet we need less, it is a challenge.
Take care of yourself, get back to basics and enjoy your new man.

Topic: strange situation???
Hi. I recently had an EGD which indicated my "pouch has atrophied to approximately 50-60cc and is 6cm long." Ok. 50-60cc is a little over a 1/4 cup. What's the deal? I've been having a very hard time of eating the amount of food we are told we "should" be eating and getting the required amount of protein on a daily basis. Now that we are 2 years out, does anyone know or remember how large our pouches are actually supposed to be?
I had the EGD to rule out an ulcer which it did.
Thanks for any information you can provide!!!!!!
